F.E.A.R. !!!
Ok well I just purchased a 3.0GHz 2.5GB RAM ATI Radeon 256MB X600 desktop PC after having gone through many years with my crap laptop. The first game I had to try was F.E.A.R.
Does anyone have this game, ever played it?
I just bought it about 2 days ago and I'm psychologically f'd up at this point. The game is so thrilling and enthralling that I can't go more than one mission without stopping and taking a deep breathe. The lighting and visuals in the game are none short of amazing and the ambient sounds/soundtrack scares the crap out of me. The atmosphere is so..... horrific...
If you've played this, how was your experience? I can tell you, after being a seasoned veteran of RE, Silent Hill and Siren... switching to a first person shooter with basically the same mechanics and concepts of fear... I totally have a brand new perspective. Not being able to see around you all the time is really freaky, with the 7.1 surround sound I got with the new PC every inch of me feels like someone is around/behind me or even waiting to jump out and scare me.
So back to the initial question, how was everyone elses' experience with F.E.A.R. ?

Re: F.E.A.R. !!!
played it. it was decent. cant say it really scared me or anything, but was definently better at that than doom3 was.

Re: F.E.A.R. !!!
The demo ran like crap on my comp so really didn't get to "experience" it. Not really one for horror games though. Seems like one of those games that will keep your heart rate up and leave you dead after 54 consecutive hours of gameplay.

Re: F.E.A.R. !!!
I bought it but have yet to install it.
I'm amazed that my P4 3.2 GHz system with a radeon 9800 is still top of the line even though I bought it a long time ago. Technology doesn't seem to be advancing as fast as it has been the past several years.

Re: F.E.A.R. !!!
9800 Pro is still top notch it isn't top of the line... the top of the line would be X1800 from ATI. Although the differences aren't significant.....
I have an X600...
How much memory does your system have? When I saw FEAR Minimum of 512MB required and Recommended 1GB.. I figured it's going to get a lot heavier now so I ordered 2.5GB ram with my system.

Re: F.E.A.R. !!!
I played the demo. It ran acceptably. I have also been somewhat suprised how well my system has held up. Im runnig a 2.6Ghz Pentium 4 with an ATI Radeon 9500 pro. I mean, its been 2 and a half years since I got my computer, and what is the fastest processor you can get now, 3.4 or 3.6 ghz? Not that much of a difference, at least not compared to how fast things advanced in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Re: F.E.A.R. !!!
3.8 is the highest i've seen going in that same rating scale.
however with the shift to 64bit processors, they dont use the same mhz, they're quite a bit more powerful tho.

Re: F.E.A.R. !!!
A buddy of mine has it, and i've watched him play it, and have played it myself, and this game is true beauty, definitely a "buy or die" kind of game.

Re: F.E.A.R. !!!
AMD Athlon 3000
1 Gig of Ram (Corsair Value Select)
Nvidia 6800 AGP
F.E.A.R. runs fine and dandy on my PC. The settings aren't all the way jacked up, but it has yet to stutter or lag. I noticed that the Demo requires a considerable more amount of juice to run than the actual game. The game was stuttering at Fry's on their dual 6600s, I believe.
Minus the fact that the game only has 3 levels and is insanely repetitive, it's a lot of fun. It's much much better than Doom 3. In fact....Doom 3 is pretty much the most boring game ever. EVER.
