I know I'm going to be an awesome samurai in the future but my question to you is, what kind of material my katana will be made of?

Greetings Sony,
You will be pleased to know there are still individuals in my time who follow the art of the Samurai. Please forgive my ignorance of metallurgy, but I know that at least a few blades are comprised of a Titanium-Aluminum alloy but I do not know if that applies to traditional katanas as well. A few manufactures produce blades coated with synthetic diamond, similar to the process described in another thread I viewed here.

I would have hoped spelling standards for the future would be better.

My apologies, attempts were made in the year 2058 to make English easier to learn through certain grammatical changes. I will attempt to adjust to your manner of writing.

Please understand I am not the best student of history, however if I remember correctly it had something to do with the increasing rate of immigration into the Americas and the desire to integrate foreigners as easily as possible.

Re: I am a time traveler from the future
Seeing as how this thread is back in action, I shall continue with questioning.
Have you contacted any of your ancestors since you've been back? Or would that be against the rules of time travel?

Wow, I never meant to cause trouble here. The last thing I want is to interfere with the normal happenings of this board. I would get into so much trouble if I altered your normal paths through life by any appreciable manner. I am glad I will get to stay here and visit with you a few more days. It would set me back quite a bit if I had to abandon this line of research.
To answer your question deejzguy, it is not against the rules to contact your ancestors per se, but it would require special permission. We are not allowed to contact ancestors for personal reasons alone, rather we must prove that such an action would be necessary for our research. As you can imagine this is an extremely rare occurence, however that has not dissuaded certain individuals for devising all manner of clever reasons why they need to contact a relative.

Great Scalar:
Tell me, has the human race discovered or been discovered by life elsewhere in the stars? And how are the animals? Have they been taken care of or have more gone extinct. Please take me back with you. I wish to inform your people of the days of yesteryear.

I am here to study the way in which people interact with each other in a digital setting (I'm a sociologist by trade). GameTavern is the perfect sized community for my thesis.
The manner in which people communicate with each other has changed greatly over the generations as has the general family structure. We don't have families the way you guys do. Instead we live in communities of anywhere from 100-1000 people. That's not to say that traditional familes are totally extinct, rather they are no longer the norm. I have a theory on how this happened and I am visiting your time period to gather support.

We have not yet been discovered by other forms of life, at least not to our knowledge. Who knows who may be listening to our radio signals though right? We did discover microbes within the liquid ocean of Europa, and we have gathered convincing evidence that life once existed on Mars.
As far as the animals go, I know that species go extinct every day. The only significant extinctions include humpback whales and a certain kind of owl. I am afraid I cannot take you back with me even if I wanted to. The pod only has room for one.

but just to humour you, when was time travel readily available?
|
I believe the first trips for research purposes were taken 15-20 years ago. It's not readily available in that not just anyone can hop into a pod and take a jaunt whenever they feel like it. You have to apply and be accepted to take a trip.

Who will win the world series this year? Also, what happens when we run out of oil and Natural gas?
|
I don't follow sports, but I couldn't tell you even if I knew. We haven't run out of oil yet, but it is not used for energy the way it is in your time. 100 years ago the first fusion reactors came online which took a lot of pressure off the oil/gas industry.
