Nintendo Returns to the Baseball Diamond
Well less of a return since Ken Griffey games were more arcade than sim, but eh anyhow.
DID YOU KNOW? NINTENDO PENNANT CHASE BASEBALL GIVES GAMERS EVERYTHING BUT THE PEANUTS
Jan. 27, 2005
Pull out the pine tar and grab a rosin bag. A new breed of baseball is coming exclusively to Nintendo GameCube™. Nintendo® Pennant Chase Baseball brings video game play to a new level of excitement and reality with fan-favorite players and teams. Slugger David Ortiz of the 2004 World Series® Champions, the Boston Red Sox®, will grace the cover of Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball, which will be available April 4.
Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball, developed by Exile Interactive and Nintendo, includes players from every Major League Baseball® team. Players will be able to compete in all 30 current Major League™ ballparks, as well as in a few from the past. To ensure a completely authentic experience, the game has been licensed by Major League Baseball Properties, the Major League Baseball Players Association and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum®, with statistics and ratings provided by STATS, Inc.
In addition, players will hear real-time, in-game commentary and announcing from some of the best in the business. Nintendo has secured the services of veteran sportscasters Bob Brenly, Rick Rizzs and Tom Hutyler. Brenly played nine years with the San Francisco Giants®. After a tour in the broadcast booth, he managed the Arizona Diamondbacks® to victory in the 2001 World Series Championship. This spring he will begin announcing games for the Chicago Cubs®. The duo from Seattle brings decades of broadcast experience to Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball. Rizzs has been a member of the Seattle Mariners® broadcast team for 20 years, while Hutyler has served as the public-address announcer for the Mariners since 1987.
Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball will feature new game modes that combine the authenticity of Major League Baseball with the great game play that consumers have come to expect from Nintendo.

Re: Nintendo Returns to the Baseball Diamond
Wait, this is real?
Is it still going to get released? I thought TakeTwo secured the rights to the MLB Player's Association.
Anyways, the link only seems to revert to Nintendo.com for me.

This is real, IGN reported it as well now.

As for Take Two... oddly enough, they only have an exclusive deals when it comes to 3rd parties, 1st party developers are still allowed to make baseball games.. it's a weird loophole

It's not so much as a loophole. I'm pretty sure they are well aware of first parties still being able to make the MLB games. I think Take Two wanted to spite EA hard so they did it in this fashion. I don't agree with all the exclusivity stuff for sports games but oh well, I can't stop any of the BS.

Unless they make their own console. And that seems to be more realistic for them every day.

Because of the keyword.
EA
If anyone else does it, its perfectly fine. As noted here with the lack of complaining by the people who complained about EA.

Because TakeTwo did it as a reaction to EA's move in an effort to stay alive in the business. Ea didn't have to do what they did, but they did it anyway because they could.

Well I was complaining not because it was EA, but because their act was not good for the industry. As such, I believe TakeTwo buying out MLB is stupid as well.
I hate companies.
