Tales of a 7th Grade Dance
I wrote this a couplem of months ago at 3:00 am while super super wired off of Dr. Pepper. So... Ignore any typos or whatnot. I didn't care to edit it ^_^
***
In 7th grade, there was the girl (named Sara) that liked me. She would come up to me at lunch and tell me stuf about something... I don't remember what... But she was coming upt o me and talking to me out of nowhere. I didn't pay much attention at that point.... I didn't want to mess with girls and all that...
Besides....she was kind of ugly and I didn't know her well and...
Anyway, it got to February and the formal dance was coming up... I hadn't been to a dance before (why would I?) and i wasn't actually planning on going to this one, but everyone was making this huge deal about it, so I just kind of decided to go...
Alone...
Anyway, I got there and was bored to tears... Guess you needed a date or something...
I was about to call my mom to come pick me up, when these wo girls, Jenn and Daisy, cornered me and told me ask Sara to dance. I was...eh...
I didn't really like Sara, but it was something to do so..
I started kind of following Sara, debating on going home or dancing...
Eventually Daisy and Jenn cornered me again and threatened to crap in my lawn if I didn't
a) asked Sara to dance
and
b) ask Sara out (since, apparently, she wouldn't dance unless we were oing out...or something...)
Anyway, I don't like having feces in my lawn....so I... thought about it... and.... decided it might not be so bad.... maybe...
So I asked her out... Kind of... I don't ever remember saying "Will you go out with me?" but somehow it got across or something..
Darn it...
So...
We started dancing... She had to be right on top of me... Most couples were at arms' length... she was chest to chest, head on shoulder, full body contact.
That was uncomfortable enough for a 13 year old kid who wasn't really all that interested in females yet (much less this one)...but then... added on...
>_<
She smelled incredibly of BO. It was horrible. I can only describe it was the most foul evil I have ever smelled.
She also was a lot uglier when you were actually looking at her (instead of just glancing and going "She's looking at me again...") and no more than 1.5 inches from her face. Ugly as the worst sin.
THe song ended, not nearly soon enough. I should have just bolted... Curse my good naturedness and all around politeness...
So throughout the whole rest of the evening, we never left physical contact in some form. She was always on my arm or shoulder or something...
And she never stopped smelling...
-_-
THen the dance was over (and the heavens parted and angels sang). But she had to have some wierd hug thing... Then she whispered "I love you" in my ear and I was like "Yuh huh...you too...I'm leaving"
I think she tried to kiss me... Fortunately I was already moving to leave...
Well... That was a Friday, so I had a weekend to realize that I hadn't just asked her to dance, but asked her out, which meant I was going to have to deal with her at school...
Fortunately, I only had one hour with her so... IT couldn't be that bad... Right?
The hour was Upper Level Reading (for those kids who really didn't need a reading class, but had to take one just because it was required for 7th graders). We were watching a movie (ironic, I know). Sara moved her dek over to my mine, and actually layed her head down on my back. I full upper body was beow hers.
.....
And she still smelled like a decade's old sneaker.
....
I was sick for the rest of the week.
When I went back, I started to kind of...ingnore her. If she came up to me, I'd talk to her, but I wouldn't carry on the conversation.
Anyway, I think Sara moved or something. I never bothered to find out. All I know is that she came up to me one day and said we'd have to break up. I never saw her again (and the heavens parted and angels sang).
But....
Last summer, I told Katie I had gone to Frontier City with Logan and his cousin. She asked if it was a male cousin or female. I said male and asked why. She said she was wondering if it was Sara.
....
Apparently Sara is Logan's cousin (actually, his step-sister's cousin, but whatever). That thought gave me tons of new nightmares.
I have yet to tell Logan I "went out" with her.
Ugh.

Ah yes, I remember when I received a first-hand account of this story from you via MSN Messenger on a rainy afternoon long, long ago. I simply love your stories. I would stay here at my seat for years with no rest if you kept telling stories. Even though you've shared with me much, I'd love to hear more. Preferably before you tell everyone else. Are you free for casual chatting on MSN this week?

Re: Tales of a 7th Grade Dance
that's rough. I remember grade 7 dances...I had the sweetest little gf for a handful of months, so a couple of the dances were great.
I feel for you, though...the "I love you" part scares me, slightly
If someone said that to me today in a somewhat similar circumstance, I would be like "whuh?!" and then run...and never look back.

Re: Tales of a 7th Grade Dance
Epilogue!
Last Friday, while Angela and I (and Angela's friend Rachel...) were sitting around in my car during lunch, this girl ran up to the car and started telling Angela about how all the people who smoke pot at a local convienance store were all arrested (ha HA! ^_^).
Once the girl was done telling her story, she looked past Angela to me and said, "We used to date. We went to the Winter Formal together in 7th grade."
O_O
I didn't recognize her, obviously. Her hair was shorter and she was kind of gothic, and I hadn't seen her in four years. So pretty much, I had an otherwise strange girl come up to me and reveal herself as the cause of the single worst moment of my life (and the subsequent worst moments up to #49).
Once the newly revealed Sara was out of earshot, Angela looked at my started laughing. I had told her the whole story the previous Friday after the Follies, and she had no clue that she knew the person I was talking about.
While Angela was laughing, I relayed my feelings by remarking, "Oh dear God" and going into convulsive shivers.
Fortunately, the encounter didn't go beyond that, and there's no reason to believe that I shall be forced into contact with Sara again (and the heavens, etc. etc.).

Re: Tales of a 7th Grade Dance
Her friends, 7th grade females, threatened to take a sh*t on your lawn? Lol. That's bad times. All the girls that I know that will sh*t on things are definately out of whack.
Better your lawn then your roof. This kid I knew dropped trow on this girls driveway, concieved a number 2, proceded to pick it up and throw it onto the roof of the girl's house, and then get caught and forced to clean it up.
*me thinks of CKY
*shudders*

Re: Tales of a 7th Grade Dance
lol funny story...
whenever their friends cornered me ( they were usually hotter ) i'd ask THEM out.
fortunately one of them liked me too.
And the whole thing with the ugly ducking was avoided.
Good story though.. lol gave me a laugh
