Police Use Stun Gun On 6-Year-Old Boy

The boy, who was not identified, was shocked with 50,000 volts on October 20 at Kelsey Pharr Elementary School.

That is ridiculous! There is no need for use of any weapon against a 6 year old unless the cop is a pansy.

The officers talked to the boy without success. When the boy cut his own leg, one officer shocked him with a Taser and another grabbed him to prevent him from falling, police said.

Ok....how weak do you have to be that you cant even take a little kid. He is friggin 6 for gods sake.

Just grad the arm with the piece of glass in it. Mission accomplished.

The title by itself is misleading. The SUBtitle, however, makes a heck of a lot more sense. When it's completely in context, I have absolutely no problems with what the officers decided to do.

i read bout this bout a day ago...i guess theres two ways of looking at this...the policeman tried to save the kid...but hes a wuss...so he zaps the kid to make him unconscious b4 actually grabbing him....if not the kid might hurt him as well......i guess this also depends how big that piece of glass is.....*shrug* i wouldnt mind having a cut or two from glass instead of zapping a tiny 6 year old.

thats what the bug zappers for; to zap the person before he causes harm to himself or others. he already cut himself, if he reaches for him, he cuts himself more. Quickest way to solve it is to zap him.

and if i was the parent, i'd much rather have my kid zaped then to let him cut himself with glass.

Yea, I didn't read the story, only the little subtext. That makes sense. The subtext was a little misleading.

i dont know....mayb i feel this way bcuz ive been zapped b4 and seriously...it isnt a very nice feeling....and that on a 6 YEAR OLD kid wud b hell....its not a teenager who can think of ways to fight back....dont just stand there, just grab the damn kid with ur arms and take the piece of glass away instead of watching him cut himself...

But the kid did cut himself.

The thing I dont get is he had to use a stun gun. or whatever on a 6 year old kid....I mean...like....I could just grab his glass wielding arm, and Voila...no more glass wielding.

The kid is 6. 6. Yes, 6. Its not like he lifts weights every day, or like, hangs out with all the little 6 year old drug dealers that will kill you if ou touch him.

I personally know a local sherriff in my area who carries around a taser gun.


You don't want to get hit with those electrode prongs.

I've seen pictures with seven guys holding hands and the two prongs attached to the two outer men. It took them to their knees and kept them there no problem.

I personally think that 50 000 volts into a 6 yr old kid is excessive force. I've fooled around with some electric fences that aren't nearly as powerful as one of those tasers...and it hurt...a lot.


I'd rather have a flashlight to the back of my head or a quick little flick of a baton on my wrist. The kid would've dropped the glass in that case...and the officer wouldn't have had to break his arm or anything...just a nice bruise.

just my opinion.....but if you've had a serious electrical shock before, 50 000 volts with decent amp is serious ****, especially with a 6 year old body.

But like, how do you people not understand the easyness in grabbing a 6 year olds arm.

I can see resorting to a taser if the kid had a gun. But it was a piece of friggin glass. You smack his hand, or grab his arm, and job done. You need no tasing.

Try it yourself.

Find a 6 year old.

Grab his arm.

See how easy it is for you to restrain him.

Now take a taser to that kid and see how bad it hurts him.

Stunning a 6 year old with glass when you can easily grab his arm, is like shooting a knife wielding guy with a gun when you can just swarm him and tackle him.

You dont just 'smack someone on the arm' that's holding a sharp piece of glass. With a piece of glass, it doesnt take much force at all to cut. A swift movement while someone is trying to grab the kid could be dangerous.

And when the hell do you swarm someone wielding a knife?! If you threaten a police officer with a knife, they could shoot you in the leg.

I really doubt that a 6-year-old whose gotten the idea of killing himself with glass is that easy to handle, Typhoid. You're over-generalizing when you say kids that are 6 are all pushovers. You've read the article, but were you there? The kid was probably screaming his head off hysterically. Even tots are vicious. It was probably the best choice to zap him - both psychologically and physically. Do you think it's fair to have 20-30somethings rampaging after a little 6-year-old?

We've been mislead. The purpose of the article was not to say that some random kid was pumped with a high voltage. The purpose was to show that this kid had a problem at X location, and the cops handled it by doing Y thing, and the kid seems to be fine.
