Video game soundtracks
Has anyone ever made a video game soundtrack to play along to your games. Sometimes game music blows, or another song would better fit the level.
Example: Whenever I play any Sonic game, I always have some metal playing, like Painkiller by Judas Priest

Re: Video game soundtracks
When i dont like the sound of games, i just pop in a CD i dont really listen to all too often. Then i start listening to that one CD alot.
But back when i didnt have speakers for my computer i used to listen to my CD player. And i always used to listen to Hybrid theory, by Linkin Park when i was playing Rollercoaster Tycoon. So now whenever i hear a song from that CD i want to play the game, and i cant play the game without listening to the CD.
BUT: i dont have to listen to it to play RT2. And if i hear a song from Meteora, i get no such feelings or urges to play it. Weird.

Re: Video game soundtracks
Whenever I play a game where what the characters say isnt important (Sports games, Fighting games, RTS, and redoing RPG's and FPS) I just put my headphones on and either listen to a CD or the music thats on my PC. I usually acquire like 5+ CDs every week so I'm always listening to new stuff. I never stay with one genre for more than a couple of weeks too. Right now I'm listening to Coldplays Album, "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" and before that it was Brother Ali's Album, "Shadows On The Sun".

Re: Video game soundtracks
I've only ever used it for DOAX. Though.. I did turn down the music in PSO3 once and put on Daft Punk. Only because the music gets repetitive.

This is totally unrelated, but is that a good album? I've been wanting to get into some Brother Ali but wasn't sure where to start.

Re: Video game soundtracks
Oh most definently dude. Shadows on the Sun is much better than Rites Of Passage and it has some really great songs on it like "Room With A View", "Win Some Lose Some", "Shadows On The Sun", "Dorian", "Champion", "Star Quality", "Prince Charming", and a little up beat and funny tune with Slug called "Blah Blah Blah". It's really worth checkin out. He's got a lot of collabs off this album with Atmosphere too.
He's not like Gab in material, but he's got very good skills and a nice flow too.
Oh, and can you recommend me some other artists or tell me your favorite rappers so I can give you the names of some other CDs to check out?

Re: Video game soundtracks
Yeah I do that. But it all depends on what games I'm playing. Whenever I play GTA3 I like to just put on my cds. Doesn't really matter which ones.
I remeber one time at my friends I was playing wind waker and listening to a little NOFX and now when ever I hear that song I think of wind waker.

Re: Video game soundtracks
I used to run iTunes when I was playing Morrowind.
Some games just have boring music...
I wanted to make a thread about GOOD soundtracks!

Re: Video game soundtracks
I never listen too ther music while playing games, especially when it's an RPG that has an awesome soundtrack of it's own (which a lot of good RPGs do).

Sometime's if the game's music is boring me, I pop the game's soundtrack into the CD player...

I've sort of done that before. I turned down Ocarina of Time's music and put on the orchestrated soundtrack of Ocarina of Time...Fun for everyone.
