New Info on Zelda, Forest, Doshin, Poke
Yo, for you non-Insiders. Here's some info coming to IGN later tonight.
Quote:
Today IGNcube attended a roundtable discussion between the press and Nintendo's creative genius Shigeru Miyamoto, as well as the company's general manage, Satoru Iwata. Both men have been touring the globe and were fully prepared to answer our questions. Look for a full transcription of the interview later tonight, but for now we have a few exciting tidbits for you.
Animal Forest + Stateside, Leader and Giant Considered
IGNcube cut straight to the chase regarding the recent and upcoming releases of Japanese titles including Animal Forest +, Doshin the Giant, and Animal Leader (Dobutsu Bancho). We inquired whether they are planning bringing any of the unique offerings stateside. Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that Animal Forest + is absolutely planned for release and is currently undergoing the painstaking process of translation at NOA. Miyamoto commented that it was very difficult to bring Animal Forest + to the United States due to the large amount of transcription that must be done, citing that it featured at least three times the text of an average RPG. Nintendo hopes the title will be released this fall in the US. Furthermore, regarding Doshin and Animal Leader, Miyamoto said that Nintendo is still considering whether or not they will release them here in the US, due to admittedly odd content.
Zelda At E3, Planned 2002 Release
One of the first questions out of the gate was of course about the Legend of Zelda for GameCube. Miyamoto said that he doesn't want to reveal anymore about the game until people can play it for themselves. He further noted that people's focus would be just on the graphics if they couldn't experience the gameplay -- the most important element -- for themselves to judge it more fairly. He said it would definitely be playable at E3 this year and also commented, "It's in the state right now where by the end of this year you will be able to play it," suggesting that it will still make its year-end 2002 release.
More Triforce
Both Iwata and Miyamoto said that more information would be released on Triforce in the coming months. Specifically we can expect more news at E3 where the new arcade board is expected to be demonstrated. Regarding software on Triforce, the two Nintendo execs said that the Triforce hardware was created in response to Sega and Namco's requests. Apparently both companies, very experienced in the arcade world, thought that the GCN hardware was perfectly suited for the arcade. That said, Nintendo itself doesn't have any immediate plans to bring software into the arcades. Miyamoto joked that because he began his career creating arcade hardware he has considered, but reiterated that Nintendo has nothing in development at the month. One member of the press asked if there would be a Super Smash Bros. Melee sequel or type game to hit the Triforce hardware. Miyamoto laughed that news travels so fast, noting that he'd commented in Europe that there may be a title like SSB Melee in the works. Could this be the rumored Namco All-Stars? We're hoping to no more soon.
Pokemon for GameCube in 2003?
IGNcube also questioned how the development of Pokemon was going for GameCube and if it would be released in the US this year. Mr. Iwata dodged the question to reconfirm that the next-generation of Pokemon for Game Boy Advance would be out by the end of the year (head to IGNpocket for more) in Japan and hopefully in the US as well. As for the new GameCube Pokemon, Iwata said that Nintendo is doing some very different things with it and wants to explore new ideas. It sounded as though the anticipated title is headed for a 2003 release, though Iwata made sure to point out they've made no official announcements as of yet. We expect to know more at E3.

He should tell us SOMTHING about the gameplay... because in Zelda's case, focusing on the graphics right now isn't a good thing.

Hmm what exactly can he tell us about the gamepl;ay that would
a)Not spoil parts of the game
b)Can't be seen in screens
c)That would make sense without playing it
As for the PokeMon

They said more than enough about Luigi's mansion before it came out.... they completly explained how the gameplay would work..... why can they do that for Zelda?

Don't we all know how the gameplay will be??? You walk, talk to people, fight, collect weapons and beat dungeons.
But I would like to know the controls.......

*joins everybody else in praying that Pokemon will come out in 2003*
I hope that it isn't going to be a Pokemon Stadium game. I hope that the game will be just like the original Pokemon games on GameBoy. That would be amazing. Also some online play would be sweet, so it would be like Pokemon Stadium for the online things, against people around the world.

I don't want anything like Pokémon Snap for the GameCube.
Like Joe said, I want a game that's original Pokémon in a new environment, new Pokémon, and 3D.
Also, a worldwide online Pokémon Stadium would kick ass!

Well, Pokemon Snap would be OKAY.... just as long as they include all 350 Pokemon from the new GBA Pokemon game!

Well, I'm a Pokémon fanactic so I'll be happy with any new Pokémon game. So far, I know of two new legendary birds, and pre-evolution of Wobbuffet.
