Pets, love them while you can.
They go so fast.
This morning the cat i have loved for 17 years of my life died because of a bad liver. I woke up this morning and he was having trouble breathing.
feels horrible to lose someone you loved for so long.

Re: Pets, love them while you can.
Sorry man. I know how that feels. A couple of years ago my cat (also 17) died of kidney failure. We had her on special diet and everything, but it wasn't enough.
Are you thinking about a new cat? I didn't like the idea at first, but after getting one I felt a lot better.
Edit: Isn't it kind of funny that you post something sad in here, and the first reply is an insensitive one by a bot that can't even feel emotion?

Very sad. A family pet is a precious thing and it hurts a lot to lose one. My dog is getting older and I'm trying to prepare myself for his passing, but it's tough.

Re: Pets, love them while you can.
My Dauchsaund that I grew up with died a few years back. It was hard on me, I'll admit that. He was getting pretty old and had major back/leg problems. Near the end he couldnt even get up the 1 step that leads from the family room to the kitchen. And it took everything out of him just to walk 1 block down the street. It was horrible to see him like that. One day we noticed he didnt bark when sombody came in the door. Sure enough, he was dead under the couch, right there in his favorite hiding spot.

Re: Pets, love them while you can.
I remember our dog dying. I was 12, she was 13. So she had been with us my whole life... she died of cancer.
We had a choice to either put her on a diet and stuff (but that would have been painful), or to let her pass away. We chose for the latter, so she died before my eyes. I cried.
Like TML, I didn't like the idea of getting a new dog (or with other passed away animals) because I didn't think it could replace the other one. And that's still my opinion although I've never tried it.
My pony is getting kinda old (almost 16) and like Germy, I'm also trying to prepare myself for her death. Problem is that ponies can get a lot older than that... So it could happen next week, could happen in 10 years.

It's sad how dogs always choose to die alone. They go somewhere to be by themselves and die. Somebody once told me that everyone dies alone. It's an unsettling thought.

Sorry to hear that null.
Indeed it is sad to loose a well loved companion. My grandpa used to have a beagle hound that I played with all the time...his name was Duke. I went outside and played with him every day, but then one day he just sort of dissapeared. Weeks went by before someone finally found his half decayed body a few hundred yards from the house.
Another dog that was well loved by my family was an old german sheppherd named Dutch. She died of old age, and she was too big for me to play with at the time, but I still miss looking out the window and seeing her moping along through the lawn.

It's Null, not Germinator...
Forgot to say: You have to realise that your dog had a good life. Remember the good times you had together.

I haven't been hit with a pet death yet, but my grandma's Yorkie is getting up there in years and she's had him since he was a puppy.
But sorry to hear Null

Re: Pets, love them while you can.
I know your pain.. it's hard. I went into withdrawl for a week about my family pet..
Our Yorkshire Terrier died sometime in September last year. I couldn't accept it for a while.. but I ended up handing him over to the vet to put him to sleep. No matter how hard we try, we're not going to keep them forever...
We recently got another dog.. and that's helped a lot.. it's not meanspirited (like, if your wife dies, get another wife..) your old pet would've wanted you to be happy.

Re: Pets, love them while you can.
Sorry to hear your misfortune Null. I've lost a loved pet before too. It's okay to be depressed and stuff. Take some time to grieve and mourn. Do you have any pictures of your cat that'd you like to share with us?
