*Gulp* Formatted the Wrong Thing
Okay, a friend of mine formatted the wrong the partition on her computer. She had two and she was redoing her computer because she had a few virus's on her computer. She does this a lot, but this time she accidently reformatted the wrong one. So everything on there is gone. I am an idiot when it comes to computers, so I was wondering if there is anyway possible to get that stuff back.

Most likely not. There is probably an extremely remote chance of using one of those data recovery programs though.

That system restore thing in XP has saved my ass a couple of times...it will take your computer back to EXACTLY how it was at a number of pre-determined points in time. Its about the only good thing about XP.

the only good thing in xp where have you been theres lots of good things in xp. Like automaticly handling the connection protocols for the internet and lans. you dont have to have the disk for reloading different components. and its better then a mac ...macs sux j/k

i think thats the difference between a long format or quick one. a quick one is 'possible' to get stuff back.

A quick format makes it easier to get your stuff back, but of course it's not guaranteed.

Re: *Gulp* Formatted the Wrong Thing
nothings garentee'd once it writes over that section of the hard disk of which your files were that got deleted. I dunno if it can bring them back. if anything might be just bits and chunks

Yea a quick format only deletes the FAT table (File allocation table) which makes it much easer to recover data from. A Full format turns every thing on the drive to 1’s not 0’s which many think it does. You can get data back even from a full format but you need some damn expansive hardware to do so.
