Donkey Kong Country GBA - first shots

Ninty blow off the dust and put a bit of spit and polish on the old monkey...
Nintendo have released the first screenshots of Donkey Kong Country for GBA. DKC first appeared on SNES and was later ported to Game Boy Color. It's a great game and, no doubt, the GBA makeover will spruce it up for handheld addicts.
Apparently, you can now save mid-level and there's some multiplayer games in there this time around. If you've never played the game you're in for a treat. If you have... well, you'd probably like more in the way of original content from Ninty's gaming gurus.

Here are some screens:

Here's the link.
Any thoughts?

I never thought this game was very good for SNES. The graphics were great but I always thought gamplay was repetive and lacking and that overall the game was WAY too easy. Mid level saves? Geez, why do we have to pussify all these games now days.

The screens look real crappy but maybe that's because they've been enlarged.

Hmm, I never knew the screens would be enlarged. Click on the Link and look at the pics on the bottom of the page. .

I wrestle with this all the time. On one hand being able to save whenever you want to is nice if you have to stop suddenly and answer the phone, or like go outside and see the sunshine. Who wants to be stuck in a dungeon looking for a save point when you need to leave house to get food or meet someone. Course it makes it all way too easy since you never really have to risk anything.

DKC was an amazing game.... But I am really getting fed up with all of these remakes for the GBA.... I mean, this will be the second remake of the game on the GameBoy. GEEZ!

Why don't they use saves like the owl-saves in Zelda Majora's Mask? Ones that get erased once you load them.
Or a sleep mode... althoug that still drains batteries.

Play Doney Kong Country on the black GB if you want a challenge... People said Metroid was hard... I say it was damn easy.

Wel, the GBC one didn´t do the original game justice. I´m happy that Nintendo decided to port this game to the GBA. But besides this port, I agree with you. Nintendo should start doing some new games. Where´s my new Mario World side scrolling game?

ya, DKC is probably teh last game i'd want to have mid-level saves, its just too easy. I had no trouble beating it without the saves. 2 eazy. i guess they just want to attract more little kids than serious gamers

Hm, the screens on the Nintendo E3 site look slightly better ( http://www.nintendo.com/e32k3/games/...tycv6_feat.jsp), but it's still not as good as the SNES version.
The screens look a lot more blurry... I'm starting to wonder whether this is a pixel-to-pixel port or not...
