Er Vague Metal Gear Solid 3 Details
Well this is an interview with Hideo, not much is revealed in the interview, but eh.
Quote:
Ever the workaholic, famed Konami producer Hideo Kojima has been keeping busy with a slate of PlayStation2 sequels lately. With Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance already on shelves and Zone of Enders: Anubis expected to hit retailers next month, Kojima-san has turned his attention toward Metal Gear Solid 3. Albeit originally confirmed last fall, Kojima-san recently revealed in an interview with Famitsu that development isn't going to be as easy this time around.
Question: How did you spend 2002?
Kojima-san: It's hard to believe 2002 is already over, it went quick didn't it? I think the initial reaction to the September 2001 attack on New York was to condem games like Metal Gear Solid 2, and that impact lasted through 2002. The majority of my time was spent working on Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Zone of Enders: Anubis and beginning work on Metal Gear Solid 3.
Question: What can you tell us about Metal Gear Solid 3?
Kojima-san: Well, there will be another sequel. [smiles..] To be honest though, I didn't want to do a third installment. I don't like how companies feed off the popularity of a series and continually release sequels. In this case however, the outcry from the fans has been overwhelming and I'm convinced there's enough new ideas for another Metal Gear. However, development isn't going to be easy and players shouldn't expect the game very soon. Trying to create the same type of visual and technical leap from Metal Gear Solid to Metal Gear Solid 2 will be extremely difficult. From 1 to 2 [Metal Gear Solid] we went from PlayStation to PlayStation2. Developing another installment on the PlayStation2 will force us to maximize the capabilities of the hardware. That's one of the reasons why I originally wanted to develop Metal Gear Solid 3 on PlayStation3. [smiles..]
Question: Visually, it seems like you've already reached the limits of the PlayStation2. What more can you do?
Kojima-san: We're going to do our best. Certainly there are aspects of Metal Gear Solid 2 which can be improved upon - its not impossible because we're using the same hardware. Rather, in order to create that dramatic leap for the players we're planning to take the series in new directions.

After seeing what Konami has done with SH3 and especially ZOE2, I con only imagine what MGS3 will look like, especially since it looks like it won't be out until probably fall 2004
This also proves that MGS3 will be on PS2 (which is a smart move to say the least)

Speaking of graphics... screw them. I want more interactivity!! More breakable stuff, and other clever tricky stuff added into the enviroment.
Also IMO this should be a PS2 exclusive. You may ask why... because X-Box owners showed no respect for MGS2: Substance and Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams. Not to forget this weren't some lame EA ports that ran better on PS2. They had exlcusive content, and MGS2:Substance came to X-Box first.

I think that it is obvious that the game was going to be on PS2... And I think that it would be great to see it exclusive to it... However, if it is exclusive, then we will most likely see another "Substance" game come out exclusive for Xbox for a period of time, and make all MGS PS2 fans mad... Lol.

MGS PS2 fans don't care that MGS:S is on XBox. They just shake their heads because it's not appreciated on the system...
I wouldn't mind Kojima waiting to make MGS3 for PS3, although that would take a long time (2006 at the earliest)
And the only reason Kojima talked about graphics was because that was one of the 3 questions he was asked about.

However, when we change anything big, fans cry about it

After seeing how MGS2:S did on XBox, Konami might rethink about making an XBox release at the same time. Unless Microsoft gives them more money to redo a few things here and make it exclusive to XBox or just exclusive for a time. But If Nintendo gives Konami some lovin, they might bring it to 'Cube to see if it will sell. I think it would since Nin. fans seem to want an MGS, but thats just a theory. I've heard about Konami (maybe) bringing 10 games to the 'Cube, but they havent said what they are. But then again, its probably just a rumour. meh

Not at all...I don't know why you would care about that comment anyways
I refer to my experience and knowledge of the PS2GB at IGN...where a lot of die hard PS2 MGS fans happen to be. And nobody was whining or anything when MGS:S was announced for Xbox...because they'd already played the game on PS2.
Are you looking for an arguement?
