I bought the game recently. It's very good. It's the story of a quest to meet the Flame Champion, but you have 3 different views of the story through the Trinity System. The story packages war, love, sadness, anger, and other feelings and emotions pretty well.

RPGPlanet gives it 60-80 hours of gameplay. I'm on my 22nd hour of gameplay (I haven't been able to play a lot of it)

I'd give it a 9.5/10

The three different main characters are:

Hugo, son of the Karaya Clan chief
Chris, leader of the Zexen Knights
Geddoe, leader of the defense units of Harmonia

Anything else you need to know, you can ask Crono, Darkmaster, or Crono_link.

It took me 61 hours to do most of the stuff. The only thing I didn't get were secret items like medal sets, recipes, some books, etc. I also didn't play the minigames that much. So you're looking at 60 hours easily to do everything.

The story is awesome. Like BF said, you play through the story from 3 different point of views. Basically, Grasslands and Zexen are in conflict again, and there have been rumours of the Flame Champion returning, those are just the basics of the story, but it's awesome.

There are 108 characters (called the "Stars Of Destiny"), and unlike most other games with multiple characters (like Chrono Cross), the Suikoden series actually makes good use of them. You get to have your own castle and town, and some characters will set up shops, or do certain things, etc.

The graphics are pretty good. They're not FFX quality, but who really cares anyway?

I should also mention that there are 3 different battle systems in this game.

Overall, I'd give it a 9.7/10. It was the best game I played in all of 2002.

And..if you're looking for another good RPG, buy Legaia 2: Duel Saga. SquareSoft isn't the only one that can make rpgs, developers like Capcom (breath of fire), Sega (ps), Namco (tales), Enix (star ocean, dq, grandia, lunar) are all good with rpgs too. And if you're wondering, Konami makes Suikoden III

damn it sounds awesome, i might just get it :\

but i was watching some vidoes of it on ign, and the battle system seemd to me like you choose all ur stuff before battle, and then you fight, kind of diff; can anyone explain it a little better?

also, the graphics seemed pretty good to me, they looked different, a little cartoony, but good nonetheless. especially after playing chrono cross and ff8.

In the regular battles, you make all your choices before each round starts. So you can't make choices in between enemy and ally attacks/moves. You have to wait until the entire round is over.

Graphics: 8/10
Controls: 10/10
Sound/Music: 8/10 (I disliked the battle music)
Characters: 9.8/10 (The characters in S3 just own!)
Story: This is where the game truly shines, 10/10

I'd give it a total of 9/10. A very awesome game and my second favorite game of the year for 2002. A must get!

I posted a review earlier, Shiz. If you can find it, it might be of help.

oh, i want to know if suikoden 3 is HARD.

i hate easy games, but i think even if it is easy ill get it, i hear this game is awesome

only egm gave it a bad score lol

it seems that the reviewers get a certain feeling when playing the game. its kind of hard to explain but when i played thru kingdom hearts, i never wanted to stop, seemed kind of magical as gay as that seems. few games have done that to me...meh

Some battles in Suikoden 3 are a bit difficult, but overall the game isn't very hard. But believe me, the games story and characters make up for it. Besides, without a guide, finding all the optional recruits can be difficult. Suikoden III has become my 5th fav. game of all time, believe me, it's awesome.
