new Zelda screens and info
Quote:
The latest issue of Famitsu contains first looks at two items to be featured in the upcoming GameCube Zelda, including the "Takuto" (baton) mentioned in the recently confirmed official title. Also included in the issue is a first look at the game's Japanese logo, which comes complete with a boat and lots of Japanese characters.
While shown for the first time in screens, the baton's (or wand's) use is still unclear. The two screens in the magazine show Link wielding the baton with apparent care, his eyes seeming to follow its movement, showing off the animation detail. A dotted meter in the blackened upper area of the screen and three diamond shaped figures above Link's head seem to figure heavily into the use of the baton, although Nintendo has yet to reveal specifics on the matter. Perhaps it could act as a metronome for timing, which music may accompany. The magazine guesses that the wind will blow in the direction that the baton is pointing and also speculates as to the functions of the other on-screen icons. However the baton works, it seems to be the obvious replacement for the famed Ocarina of Time in the N64 version.
The magazine is a bit clearer on the use of the Deku Leaf. As shown in the below screens, Link approaches a cliff and seemingly has nowhere to go. That is, until he takes out his Deku Leaf, which can be used as a hang glider, allowing him to glide to the area below. The magazine speculates that the wind will have an affect on your use of the leaf and that you may not always be able to glide down.
Also revealed in the screens is a D-pad icon on the bottom left. Previous screens showed a map in this area. Unfortunately, Famitsu doesn't seem to know the meaning behind this icon.

if Nintendo announced that Link would be maneuvering around mainly on the back of an emu, most people would completely love the idea...
not saying that this game won't be good...it's just that some people are all over this thing like white on rice...

I also agree with Stu...
If Nintendo changes/adds anything at all in/to games it's brilliant and they're amazing and they will 'change teh way we paly gamez1!1!!!!' or 'r0x off yer b0x0rz"
It always gives me a good laugh when they announce something and you always get someone who exagerates a bit and is like "ONCE AGAIN THE GREAT NINTENDO WILL ROCK THE WORLD OF GAMING AND REGAIN THEIR CROWN AS THE LEADER OF INNOVATION!"

Whats funny is EVERYONE gets needlessly excited over a game they love and have high hopes for.
but certain people always step in and complain and make remarks about how others are doing it.
yet they do it themselves over other games. But just because its a nintendo game, they come make comments about how people would like it even if this or that.
same could be said for each of them.
Stu has been going nuts over ratchet and clank. he hadnt played it. but no one comes in and makes comments about him being excited about it. Stu is all over it like white on rice.
Game goes nuts over football games. or EA games. again. dont see people saying oh he'd like a fooball game from EA even if they all had jet packs.
DH goes whacky over ummmmmm RE Games?
dunno. maybe he just likes to complain
point is EVERYONE gets really excited over one game or another.
for the love of god just let them get excited. why do we need to make comments about this or that?

I get excited but I don't get "whacky" and when Capcom announces that you will be able to like switch between the two characters and such in RE0, I don't say stuff like "ONCE AGAIN CAPCOM PROVES THEY CAN KEEP A SERIES GOING WHILE KEEPING THINGS FRESH!!1!!1 THEY ARE TEH GR8EST!" or anything like that...
So basically I get excited about games, but it seems like when Nintendo is doing anything at all with one of their major games, Nintendo fans turns that anything into something AMAZING AND HUGE AND INNOVATIVE AND IT PROVES ONCE AGAIN THAT NINTENDO IS TEH AMAZING!...
Whereas when someone does something little with one of my favorite games I'm like "Neat (^_^" and if they do something big I'm like "Awesome! I can't wait to play it (^_^"
I do like to complain though...
Edit: Oh yeah, and why does it seem like all the major Nintendo games have had these "gimmicks" or whatever? Mario with the water pack, Zelda:MM with the controlling time, Luigi with the vaccuum, this new Zelda with controlling wind... Why can't they make a nice straight out magical Zelda game without a certain item that does some huge amazing thing in the game... like in LttP or something, there was no uber-amazing item... Although the Ocarina in OoT was neat... but I wasn't a big fan of the water pack in SMS, and although Zelda:MM was still good, I prefer Zelda without controlling time...
