DSL Fiber Optics
Hey, I have a question about DSL Fiber Optics for anyone who knows anything about it, its the kind of DSL that goes through phoneline. Is there only one special phonejack for it or does it go through the entire house like regular phonelines? This is related to my little "problem", because I am switching ISPs and they have dsl fiber optics.

DSL Fiber Optics is the fastest connection you can get, me thinks. Someone else will answer it better here though.

Try phoning the ISP you're switching to and asking them...

From what I know, you need more of a "high performance" phone jack. But I'd check another source, most likely your ISP to check.
And the fastest connection you can get right now is fiber optics, like real fiber optics. Costs millions to lay the cable, plus the service is I'm almost positive, in the 6-digit monthly fees at least. But you get speeds of over a gig per second.

No, no, no.
gekko said actual fiber optics are the hella-fast, hella-expensive one. DSL fiber optics may be expensive (I personally have no idea), but those weren't the ones gekko was referring to.
If you want to find out how much DSL fiber optics would cost you, as both gekko and I have already said, talk to your ISP. They'll know the answers to your questions about that stuff.

ACTUAL fiber optics is. DSL goes through a phone line. A fiber optic connection, you must bury a tube from your ISP location, all the way to your house.
Like for me to get it, I'd need to lay a fiber optic line from downtown Minneapolis, all the way to my house, digging up and replacing the roads and ground. It's not made for residential use, but if you had billions of dollars, you could afford it. T3 is only $35K a month, I could only imagine what a fiber optic connection would cost.

Phoneline DSL would be pocket change if you could afford fiber-optics.
OC-1 is 51MBps, OC-3 is 155MBps, OC-12 is 622Mbps, OC-24 is 1.24Gbps, OC-48 connection is 2.5Gbps, OC-192 is 10GBps, OC-768 is 40Gbps
Anyway, DSL will cost you somewhere around the $40-50 a month range.
