Why won't Rare answer????
http://cube.ign.com/articles/364/364279p1.html
Quote:
July 09, 2002 - UK-based developer Rare has been making the news rounds as of late, and not by choice. Rumors alleging that the company is secretly in development with PS2 and Xbox software in addition to its GameCube works have spread far and wide, with sources pointing toward Activision and Microsoft as possible publishers for the PS2 and Xbox formats respectively. Everyone, including gaming loyalists, seems to have an opinion on the matter. Well, everyone except for Rare itself, which has so far refused to officially address any of the hearsay.
We recently chatted with Rare's US offices about why the developer showed only one title at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2002 and indeed what is really going on with the long-time Nintendo companion. As expected, solid answers were not forthcoming. But some suspicious non-denials may deepen the strength of the ever-circulating third-party rumors.
When asked about the company's decidedly lackluster showing at E3 2002, a Rare spokesperson shrugged the display off as a matter of timing, and not emptying one's big guns all at once. "We wanted to keep the emphasis on Star Fox Adventures. With Nintendo having such an awesome GCN lineup we felt it would be overkill to show additional Rare titles," a representative said. "As it was, we think Nintendo had the best games at the show."
In regard to Activision and Microsoft publishing deals, Rare said simply: "We do not comment on rumors." Interestingly, however, when questioned directly on whether or not the company was in possession of PS2 or Xbox development hardware, the company did not offer a denial, but another "no comment." With no concrete answers still, more speculation is bound to run rampant.
More as it develops.

This is starting to piss me off. By Rare avoiding the question all the time, they are in a way building more hype. If it isn't true, why avoid the question? They can squash the rumor in two letters... but they won't... why?
Some people in the forum still don't belive Rare is developing for other consoles. If they aren't, can you give a good reason for them not simply saying "NO" ?

Cause, they can't do **** except release a press release. And they won't issue the press release until they have something to show.
It all boils down to... pretty much stock issues.

Man, if only people could actually link two of RARE's answers, they would get a definate answer!
Rare stated:"We do not comment on rumors."
IGN ask them to comment on a 'rumour', and not getting the hint from their first answer, they simply say, ''no comment''.
Now why is it so hard to understand that? They don't comment on rumous, hence the no comment on the 'rumour'.
*Note, this isn't directed towards you TheGame, but rather IGN.

But still... if it's false why is it so hard to say "no"? Why play Games?

Even though I'd like to see Rare on PS2...wouldn't it be hard for them? I mean, they can barely keep 3 or 4 games in development without delaying them countless times..unless they somehow expand. Development would move faster if they stayed on 1 console and the GBA.

Well, I think that Rare is just trying to keep the attention on themselves. Maybe in hopes that it sells StarFox.
I mean if they are going multi, it may destroy some of the Nin's fanboys and they won't buy the game or other console owners would just wait until Rare starts releasing games on their console to buy it.
So I just assume this whole "no comment" thing is to not negatively effect the sales of StarFox Adventures, but then I could be completely off base.

Well, this can go either way. I don't understand all of this speculation, though. I mean, who cares if they go multi-platform? They will still make games for GCN.
I think that we should all just sit tight for an announcement, unless they have nothing to announce because they are not going multi-platform.
PATIENCE PEOPLE!

I see what you're saying, but they don't comment on rumours as they said, so 'no comment' is basically a no no... That's what I think anyway.

They dont want to give answer to any rumors. Maybe the hint is if they dont comment on it, consider it a "no".
