I'll probably get it, but I don't see any game I really want. Nintendo Land and Mario will be fun, but not something you buy a new console for...
I will probably buy it just because I know I'll get it within the first year. I don't expect the price to drop (much), so I might as well get it right away and enjoy it. Oh, I hope it will launch with some good eShop titles (that sequel to World of Goo perhaps?).
How about you? What games are you getting with it?

I just told my friend he can have my pre-order. My TV burned all of the HDMIs (for the second time) and the car needs a new transmission. I'll get a new TV since I bet this one will just get the HDMIs burned a third time and I'ld rather get a new one with 3D. I'm thinking I'll buy mine around May when I no longer have anything to pay.

I hope it has Youtube out of the box. I think I heard we'll have to wait a while for TVii, grrrrr.
I have Youtube on my Smart TV and on my media streamer, but they both suck. It doesn't have the functions that the browser-based Youtube has, I can't find some videos and the UI is a mess.
So I hope Wii U will solve that for me.

Re: So who's getting the Wii U?
Nintendo finally detailed their online network/MiiVerse/WaraWara Plaza
Quote:
Network ID can be used to exchange contact information in the same way as Friend Codes. eShop purchases are managed by Nintendo Network IDs, and can be played by other users on same system. Nintendo Network to be usable on other Nintendo game systems, PCs, smartphones. Your Nintendo Network ID can be tied to your ID on 3rd-party network services.
20:13 Internet Browser, Miiverse, eShop require a network update. WiiWare and VC software transfer to be explained on the website at a later date.
20:16 In-game feature video now. NSMBU has off-screen play. Suspend w/ home, access browser.
20:18 On-screen keyboard, cellphone layout, stylus written input. Change to TV mid-game. Browse other videos on the GamePad while streaming one to the TV.
20:19 Earned a silver medal in NSMBU, ask Miiverse community for help getting a gold. Post game screenshots to the Miiverse community. Read response comments with advice.
20:20 You can follow other players you see in the Miiverse boards and register them as friends.
20:21 There's a setting to automatically hide spoiler comments.
20:22 All Wii U games can make use of Miiverse without any additional work from developers.
20:23 In certain games, leave situation-specific comments and read others' thoughts there.
20:24 Miyamoto's drawing is shown as one of the situation-specific comments in Luigi's Mansion.
20:25 Meet many other players from around the world through Miiverse as the Wii U is launched.
20:27 Iwata is now video chatting with Reggie in his NOA office. Reggie is introducing himself in Japanese. He worked very hard to learn just a little bit.
20:28 You can draw on the GamePad and share the scribblings overlaid on the video feed. Video chat with registered friends is called Wii U Chat. Has off-screen play. You can take video calls while playing a game: the rim light on the home button will let you know that there's an incoming call.
Today I finally made a reservation for a Wii U! The store is getting 500 units and I'm the first to make a reservation.
A month ago or so I already made a reservation at Bartsmit.com, but it was more of a "we'll notify you when we get them" thing. Also the price on that site wasn't too good.
For weeks I kept walking into the BCC to ask if they were going to sell Wii U... Now this morning they finally had confirmation. They're getting 500 units and I am the first with a reservation.
The nice thing about this store is that they have a lowest price guarantee and that the store is pretty close to my home.

Re: So who's getting the Wii U?
Hope you get a good launch system Angrist! Kinda jealous actually.
The one thing that bugs me: IGN has said that there's so far no way to turn off the gamepad's screen if you don't want to be using it. I think that would be a great option since battery life is supposed to kind of blow.
And so far Nintendo acts like they're really constantly working on improving the OS. I bet the option to turn off the screen will come eventually. It could even be an in-game option.

I just never got around to doing it.

In US it's $300 for the regular one and $350 for the deluxe, which includes some extra things like a bigger hard drive, a charging dock for the tablet, and some kind of membership to an online program which will get you free stuff.
I can't remember if Nintendo Land comes with both versions or not.
