Do you finish games?
How cynical of a question is this?
I remember back in the days (N64 and before) I used to make a very conscious effort to beat any game I played. I still make an effort to beat a game if at all possible. Some games are just challenging or time consuming though...games like Majora's Mask, for example. I noticed that many people on this forum seem to buy many games...so my question is do you beat/finish the games you buy?

Re: Do you finish games?
I try so hard to. But it's impossible to finish them all.
I never get bored of games. Hell, I love a lot of things. I just constantly switch gears. My favourite game this generation is Valkyria Chronicles and I haven't even beaten it because of all the damn games that distract me! Hahaha.
My parents set a rule on me when I was younger: you can't get a new game until you beat your current one. Well, Battletoads Double Dragon eventually came out, and that was a damn hard game. I eventually beat it, but I was like "enough of this crap."
Actually, I was pretty good about beating games after the N64 up to the Gamecube. When I branched out to Dreamcast I still beat games, and Xbox, and then PS2, and then a fuckload of games came out.
I guess my summary is, if you have all the platforms in a generation, you're never going to finish a lot of the games you buy.
I'm beyond repair now - too many RPGs to beat. That, and over 150 gamecube games. I once sat down with my girlfriend and played every single gamecube game for 5 minutes - and it took two days to complete. However, I think I've finished a third.
Also, for the record, I was CRAZY about pokemon, but I never even bothered "catching them all." The only game I came close to 100% completion in was Chrono Trigger. I missed half the endings.

Re: Do you finish games?
I don't buy that many games anymore. I have games that I never finished (or started, mostly those bought by my brother), but I still try to beat them some day.
So I voted Yes.

Re: Do you finish games?
I put no, mostly because of my habits before, but I have been trying hard to do that and so far I've been pretty good about finishing the newer ones I've been getting.

Re: Do you finish games?
I'm very big about getting the most out of my games. Because of that, and my busy schedule, I have a large backlog of games AND I have used mucho willpower to keep myself from buying most games.
I don't beat all of them. If I get bored of a game or it feels like a chore, I stop. (Assassin's Creed is a perfect example)

I had that problem with Assassin's Creed but considering it was so short I was able to get big chunks of the game out of the way. It was kinda the same ordeal for me with Prince of Persia(360) too.

We don't get many games, mostly because they're way too expensive here. So yes, I do finish them.

Re: Do you finish games?
Good games that I want to play tend to come out too fast for me to beat them all, with school and work and other activities involved.
I have been trying to clear out some of my backlog, though. Over the summer I beat Fable 2, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia, Mass Effect, and I'm nearly finished with Twilight Princess.
Another thing that gets in my way of finishing games are games like Team Fortress 2, which I find immensely fun and entertaining, and if I have less than an hour to play something I'm much more likely to just hop on it. Or if I'm having trouble deciding what game I want to play, I'll usually end up playing TF2. It's a lot of fun, but it's basically just a giant time sink.

Re: Do you finish games?
I don't feel the pressure to buy games if I don't need to, or knock out my backlog. Even though I have a buddy who keeps asking me about new games coming and if I'm getting (Demon Souls is his new kick), I play games to have fun. So I'll play what I want. Whether it be Batman, or MLB: The Show, or Call of Duty.
Unfortunately, because of that, it takes me a long time to beat a game.

Re: Do you finish games?
It's a combination of the last two, I get really antsy and buy way too many games at once, and some of them never touch. Dead Space, Assassin Creed, The Force Unleased, Metroid Prime Trilogy
And then some I play and get frustrated or bored with and just never play again, or I take a short break and never finish.
But the games I do finish, tend to happen quickly. MArio and Luigi, Mario Galaxy, Corruption, the Halo 3 n ODST, two Gears of War, Uncharted.. all within a few days.

Re: Do you finish games?
I beat most of the games I buy now, but never used to. Thats more a result of games getting shorter and easier than anything else.

Re: Do you finish games?
My answer would be yes and no.. but usually if I buy it, its a yes.
I beat games with a good story line that pulls me to keep playing. So I beat all the MGS games and any RPGs I own. I also beat games with good co-op modes. Like Halo, Perfect Dark, or to go old school.. Double Dragon.
But I don't beat games that just get more and more challenging from a gameplay standpoint without any good story to pull me through it. So I've yet to complete a GTA game, for example. Single player beat-em-up games collect dust for me... I'm suprised I got through Mario 64 (though it litterally took years of on and off play).

That actually reminds me of something else. Back in the old days, I used to pirate games, ROMs and such, but I found that very unsatisfactory. I NEVER beat those games or got much enjoyment out of it.
I think there is a certain level of pride and accomplishment you get from a game if you pay for it.

Re: Do you finish games?
Yeah if it's worth finishing I usually do. There are a few that I haven't finished because of something ridiculous near the end game.
Example, Windwaker. I will never do the Triforce quest at the end of that game ever. I don't care how much I actually thought that game was awesome, they ruined the fucking game for me with that.
