Default Anyone sell their collection?

So I'm thinking about selling my old games next year when I have some time. I've never sold a game in my life, but my father sold our broken NES when I was young (who buys a broken system?) and since then I've kept every game I've ever owned.

A few years ago I moved into an apartment, and around that time realized keeping all this stuff is stupid. I spent hundreds on shelves and storage containers just to get it out of boxes. I also came to realize that if I ever wanted to play these games again, it's easier to find an emulator than dig this crap out and hook it all up.

In truth, I've re-purchased several of my old games on XBLA and virtual console. So why the hell am I still storing all this crap? I can't wait for digital distribution so I can keep the system and not need to store all the cases too.

Anyways, 99.99999% of all old games are completely worthless. There are a few games which still have some value (like $10 value). I don't want to take these to GameStop because they also need to make a profit on the sale, which cuts my money in half (if not more).

So any tips on where to get rid of this stuff? eBay? Amazon marketplace? Anywhere more oriented towards game collectors, so someone else can take this crap?

First off Gamestop and stuff is a terrible idea.

The best way to unload it all is either through here (I would actually be very happy to know what you have in your collection and what I would be interested in as my brother let his children destroy all my SNES and NES childhood goodness) and then craigslist and possibly ebay.

I've been doing some research on eBay, and I just can't understand some people:

1) PSO (GameCube) is selling for $30. The servers have been shutoff for years. At least PSO Ep I & II Plus has the online quests on the disc and available offline, which might explain the $90 price tag. Also allows for downloading NiGHTS to your GBA, which is still super sweet.

2) The Ocarina of Time soundtrack is worth more than the game

3) Panzer Dragoon is worth more than Panzer Dragoon Orta, which features the original as an unlockable. Also can be played on your 360, which is likely hooked up yo your TV.

4) Rez and Ikaruga both are worth more on PS2/DC/GC than their much-improved XBLA version.

I could go on and on with re-released games, like Sonic CD...

I might also see if Pink Gorilla buys games. They're always at PAX selling rare titles, and have a store in Seattle. If they sell used games, they have to buy them, right?

I have a couple things from that case...

PSO Gamecube has independent servers up and running, including coded events they're just private servers. Private in terms of the fact that it takes a few days after signing up for an account to actually get it. Also if you don't play for a month they delete your account. That's why it's still worth money, also it's hard to find these days.

Ocarina of Time Soundtrack was limited edition. The gold cart OoT is worth quite a bit more as they were only for pre-orders. Don't know if you saw it on EBay.

Panzer Dragoon was very limited print run. One of the harder to find games.

Rez and Ikaruga are two of the rarest games produced. I was so lucky to pick up my GC copy of Ikaruga because I lived in the middle of nowhere KY and the damn thing sat at an FYE for over 2 years before I finally looked the game up.

What you're paying for here isn't a game. It's a collector's item. Sure you can get all these games on emulator or on XBL or PSN but it's not the same as saying you own an original copy of "X" game.

Like I own an original copy of Final Fantasy still in the box with the manual. It's the only thing I have from my NES that wasn't destroyed. I believe it's worth quite a bit right now.

EDIT:

Yup

http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-FINAL-...item335faf7d3c

And more than likely mine would be worth around 2/3 of this.

Just remember, everything has a market. Something might sell for nothing at EB, but to the right person [via ebay or someone you know] might get you triple the price, because it's a sure thing for them.

I always wanted to buy Ikaruga, I just kind of forgot about it at some point. Are you trying to sell it, or were you just looking up games that are priced very high on ebay?

I have been considering unloading my collection as well. Of course you will get more if you list each game individually, it is so much easier to just list everything in one big auction, or like "lot of 20 gamecube games with system" or something like that. That's what I did with my old Game Gear and I think I got a halfway decent amount for it. That was at least 5 years ago.

Then again, there are certain games that are still worth 20 to 30 dollars. Zelda Collectors Edition for Gamecube (which included OOT and Majoras mask, along with the original zelda for NES and Zelda II), seems to still fetch near 30 dollars, and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes can go for a decent amount also. I have both of these games and are considering selling them.

I slowly want to sell off my oldest and most boring games. I have about 20 NES games that I've never liked. Some of them are worth quite some money (Castlevania II Simon's Quest: €15? Sweet).
When I'll sell them, I'll probably try eBay or an alternative.

I also have a lot of Nintendo-developed games that I want to hold on to. I also hope that games like Zelda, Metroid, Kirby will only get more expensive.

Like I said before, I'm not really planning to start selling anything until after I finish school. I just need the time to price everything out, put up the auctions, run to the post office, etc. I was searching for stuff I had, just trying to get a general idea what some of it is worth.

But yes, I'll probably be getting rid of Ikaruga for GameCube. There's a better version on XBLA which I also own. I would recommend you buy that one.

I'm most interested in getting rid of the games which I can no longer play without digging through old boxes. I don't mind GameCube as much because I can still play the games in my Wii.

I dont think ill ever sell my SNES games.
They've got sentimental value, and I only have about 5 of them so they arent taking up much space.
Ill probably keep my Cube games.
PSO was my favorite game during the time of the Cube, ive got a bad ass character on there.

I think the most expensive game I own is Bubble Bobble Part 2 for NES. It's gone on Ebay for over $300 a few times, but I've seen it for as low as $30 as well. I think I got it for $20 back in the day.

I have Harvest Moon for Nintendo 64 which is apparently kind of rare for some reason. I also own a European import of Shenmue 2 for Dreamcast that plays on my US Dreamcast with some other disc. Not exactly sure on the rarity of that, maybe a bit more rare here in the US...

Anyway, I haven't thought about selling any of these yet. I really want to play the Shenmues again and I only just beat Bubble Bobble part 2 a couple months ago.

Shenmue II (DC, PAL): $45
Shenmue II (Xbox, US): $10

You can actually make money selling original copies and buying the re-releases. For example:

Sell: Resident Evil Code Veronica X (Gamecube): $33
Buy: Resident Evil Code Veronica X (PS2): $1.50

Sell: Panzer Dragoon (Saturn): $14
Buy: Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox): $3.50

Sell: Sonic Adventure 2 (DC): $26
Buy: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (GC): $13

Sell: Ikaruga (GC): $23
Buy: Ikaruga (XBLA): $10

A few months ago I bought the Fire Emblem for the Cube. Cost me €15 or so, even though all other copies went for €40 or more.
But the best deal I've made was buying a lot of new Wii games for less money than they're asking for used copies. I sold a lot of those games with profit.

DO NOT SELL ZELDA WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING ME.

I do not have that. I have Oot and Master Quest, but I was never able to find the collector's addition for a decent price. PS it sells for more than 30 bucks usually.

I would get it for XBLA except I don't own an Xbox 360. That's why I'd have to buy the Gamecube version, and also why I was just leaving you a "note" that I'm interested in it for whenever you plan on selling it in the future.
