Re: Weekend Editorial (E)
Nintendo is lazy and you don't care. Really? The "you" implies the reader of a Wii website. It's quite obvious that they don't care.

Re: Weekend Editorial (E)
If "You" don't care. why should they? Gaming is a billion dollar business. They aren't going to spend money if they don't have to.

Re: Weekend Editorial (E)
Well I care. And I didn't buy any of their crappy games. No Wii Music, no Animal Crossing: City Folk, no cheap ports.

Re: Weekend Editorial (E)
Not Just For Kids. I agree with him, but the article wasn't that great.
The other one is quite smart. Thanks for linking.

Re: Weekend Editorial (E)
Good editorial. Touches on the same mystery I have pondered on why third parties don't take advantage of the gold-mine that Wii is.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/safe-bets-article
Another fine article from Eurogamer.
Quote:
In light of this, it's easy to predict how the coming five years will shape up - with boxed product being restricted to franchises, sequels and blockbuster, marketing led titles from huge publishers, while the real innovation and development takes place on digital platforms, never touching the store shelves.
For all our misgivings about digital distribution, the market - consumers and publishers alike - has now ensured that innovation has little place in boxed games. That's a reality which we may come to regret.
|
Just so it doesn't come off that I'm posting an article that semi-paints the Wii in a positive light, I don't agree that HD consoles can't birth their own new franchises (things like Gears of War and Uncharted spring to mind), but more likely than not it is done by people who can afford it.
