Street Fighter IV
I'm kind of surprised that no one is talking about this game at all. Where are all my fellow lovers of old school? I'm always partial to 2D anything games. I think the inclusion of 3D graphics in a 2D environment has worked well (New Super Mario Bros) and is working again.
So anyone else go out and get this game?
I need to play more with some of the characters but I think some lost a lot of their edge (Guile) while others are seemingly unstoppable with very little training (Ken). But it's fun as Street Fighter always is and (most of) the graphics are amazing!
Still doesn't hold a candle to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 though.

Re: Street Fighter IV
Having played SF Alpha 3 to death, there seems to be something missing.
Some of the online people I've faced so far are really annoying, in ugly ways. I'll wait until unlocking all chars before saying more.
btw,
Isn't it cool that the end credits show semispoilers of the hidden ones?

Re: Street Fighter IV
game is amazing. best fighter in quite a while. so happy i skipped soul calibur and waited for this instead.
some of the moves have been reduced. and priorities changed. but for the better. and with the fucus attack / ex moves / supers / ultras. its hard to say they're underpowered compared to old versions.
ken is quite stopable... its just annoything that no one can pick anything but him. i know hes the easiest to learn and all. but take a little time. learn something new! however its also that same fact that hes picked the most that makes him a bit easier to deal with, you know exactly what your getting when you fight him. you know the moves hes gunna do because everyone does em.
i've been working on cammy myself. want to get a lot better using her.
i had one guy today. after i beat his zangief with cammy. he threw a fit and sent me voice messages yelling and saying how im cheating by using an unlockable character and how unlockables are so much better then the others...
im like uhhh... its um.. cammy. lol
but if your having trouble learning ken... this can help you out.

Re: Street Fighter IV
The game is amazing on PS3. I played with Typhoid for most of the afternoon.
I like Soul Calibur IV better so far, especially because of the customization. But the balancing and combos seem better in SFIV, by a hair. I haven't tried online yet.

Re: Street Fighter IV
I understand how you feel Null. I actually want to get good at Cammy because I've always liked using her, but the length of Cammy's legs seemed to have been reduced so I'm working on that. However, I do like Ken. I think that slowly they intentionally make Ken better then Ryu because Ryu was so unstoppable back in the day.
Akuma though? Major nerf. Just unlocked him and he has the same issue. I've never been much of a combo guy myself, so dealing with these characters who their moves are so short distanced makes it hard for me to adapt.

Re: Street Fighter IV
i like ryu better in this one.. i think his super is more effective and can be used in different ways.
cammy i actually like better in this one too. i've gotten much better with her in this. couldnt do much at all in hd remix with her. only move i cant do on command yet is her spinning jump into the slide leg sweep. whatever its called. its a half circle at an angle on the dpad. annoying to do.

You said you wouldn't tell!
But anyways, yeah - me and Dyne both picked up PS3 copies of this today, and I haven't played mine yet, but from the extensive play we did, the game seems really good to re-hook me into the Street Fighter I loved when I was growing up.
The addition of online, and online challenge modes also seems really awesome.

Re: Street Fighter IV
well the free update "championship mode" comes soon. (think they said a few weeks) with it.... Tournaments! that was the best part of hd remix. 8 man tournaments online. was sweet.

Re: Street Fighter IV
championship mode fixes it apparently.
its not that bad to deal with for a bit.. but it was working better in hd remix
best way i've found is to turn the request option on and just play arcade till someone online challenges

Re: Street Fighter IV
The more I play the game, the more I'm in love with it. I've unlocked everyone but the final boss (because that takes bloody long to do it and not sure I even want him).
I loved Cammy in HD Remix. I could school people with her without using any special moves, but I agree, the Hammersteiner or whatever it is called is hard to do. I got the 360 and doing it with an analog stick makes it a little easier. I think the game comenpensates for knowing you're using an analog and intelligently assumes what special move you're trying to pull off, which I like. I used to hate doing the Shouruken(sp) because I kept doing a Haduken.
Online seems fine with me though, I just, you know, do the whole, arcade mode on and they come to me.

Re: Street Fighter IV
they did do stuff to it to make it work better with the 360 controller. but its not that it knows your using an analog and tries to do what it thinks your doing.
the fightpads have a switch where you can tell it the dpad is the analog stick. its pretty much the same. i like the fightpad better, i've almost got all the moves set on it.

Re: Street Fighter IV
When I have more time to devote to the game, I may spring for the fight pad. There are so many characters who rely on the ability to bounce around on the pad from light punch to heavy punch and so on. Especially the unlocked characters.
...and Cammy.

Really? I can't freaking get the combos to unlock thw two characters in which you need to not only preform combos, but not use a continue. How the hell did you manage that.
