Default Thoughts on the Ps3

I'm just curious here, we get most of the Wii news filtered through here because I'm a huge advocate of Nintendo.

Generally decent coverage on the 360 because well, I believe it is the most played console here... if nothing else most played online.

But the PS3 just seems like a bastard child, I really only bring it up because wanted to post the new and awesome God of War 3 trailer only to find that there isn't a thread for God of War 3... nor Killzone 2... I don't think Resistance 2 has one either... and the list goes on and on.

I know people own them, I'm one of those people so is it just not talked about because people don't think it would get much attention or do people who own it.. not really following the games until they come out?

And that trailer.

I've never played a god of war game - I dont like the mindless hack and slashing aspect.

Who knows - if they ever come out with actual gameplay and it looks worth it, I might rent it.

Too expensive.

But I do want one. Mainly for Blu-Ray. I thought Sony was stupid for including Blu-Ray at first, but it's really the only reason right now that I have any interest in their console. That and Little Big Planet.

It's probably because I'm too busy playing mine and hardly post on GT anymore.

Nobody listened to me and bought Valkyria Chronicles. I tried. That ship is sailing. I gave up after that. I'm still playing Valkyria Chronicles. I have it on right now, in fact. After that, I need to finish Eternal Sonata.

Hahah, they have a copy at EB in Coquitlam Center, but the price is up to $69 everywhere now that retailers know that it's good and hard to find.

PS3 is the current gen's Gamecube. 360 is...the Xbox I guess but actually got farther off the ground. Wii is the new PS2. Tons of shovelware, with the occasional standout game.

PS3 has alot of promise, unfortunately the price was hard to swallow in the beginning, and still is. Getting better but it needs another price cut at least. I think the biggest thing that helped the 360 get ahead (not counting the year head start) was how much revolves around online play and achievements.

you know blu ray players are much cheaper than ps3 is... if you wanted it just for blu ray, you'd be wasting a lot.

personally theres a few games on it i'd like to play, nothing that im dying to have. i can wait for a MGS on 360. ( altho i never got into MGS3 anyway. loved 1 and 2.) other then a couple games... not worred bout the ps3 at all.

I hate it when people think the GameCube did so much worse than the Xbox. It was actually a very close call, according to VGChartz the GCN sold 21.6 million, the XBx 24.7 million.
The GameCube did best in Japan, the XBox in the west.

The 360 has sold twice as much as the PS3. So when you consider the fight for the second place, the PS3 is doing worse than the GameCube. Oh and Nintendo always made money on their little cube.

I only meant PS3 to Gamecube because GCN was the "underdog" last gen. PS2 and Xbox always got the more mass appealed games. PS3 still is, but it's not the main focus most of the time.

Gamecube also, IMHO, got the best games of that generation. It's really a shame, I want to love my little wii but there's nothing to do on it! Maybe I chould check out some of the new VC games...

I think 360 is just slaying the PS3 for three reasons
Came out earlier, larger installed base, picked up momentum faster
Cheaper
They have most of the same games, and Halo is bigger and more known then any of the PS3 exclusives. Not neccesarily better mind you.

The PS3 is a pretty hollow console. I never get the same satisfaction from playing my PS3 as I get from my 360.

I think the achievements, even if you wouldn't admit it, make a big difference. And the fact that Xbox Live is 15.6 times better than PSN.

I also think that the controller makes a console more enjoyable. I really hate the PlayStation controller, with it's wide-ranged analog sticks. The 360 analog sticks are more firm, which seems to give me more control.

And the marketplace is much much better.

Although having said all that, being Blu-Ray compatible and more reliable, and since it has quite a few good games, I still love my PS3, and I'm glad I bought it..

I know this, but if I'm going to spend that much money, I might as well go the extra distance and get the PS3. There are a couple of games on there that I want to play.

The problem is that they have nothing, tech-wise, on the PS3. Who wants to wait 10 minutes for Cars to load up? PS3 doesn't have load times because its firmware is very frequently updated online. I would harshly consider PS3 for $200 more based on the future-compatibility alone.
