Last week we highlighted a few retro gaming wallpapers for some Friday fun. That was nothing compared to DeviantArt member Orioto's high-resolution, you-won't-believe-your-eyes paintings of classic video games for your desktop—a must-see for any gaming enthusiast.

His work, which has been featured in Nintendo Power magazine, is based on the idea of what high-definition versions of classic video games might look like with today's powerful gaming platforms, with stunning results. I really liked the Green Hill zone one

Mario one is weird just because if I saw a guy running through lush scenery in real life with tubes all around, I'd kinda freak out Just in how he depicts it. Now the Milky Sky one, that one was done well. Just can't beat the classic 2D angle.

Zelda one is good also. Love the fact he used WW Link in a LttP setting.
