Very similar. They both share the Lynx genus, the bobcat being Lynx rufus. Smaller than the Canadian Lynx (Lynx canadensis). And then there's the Eurasian Lynx which is Lynx lynx which is just cool by name alone.

Ah looks like the birthday bobcat is a desert bobcat.
