Re: Powell Endorses Obama
Col. Powell spoke really well and I believe brought up some issues that I've not seen touched on in past conversations, mainly on how Obama's supposed Muslim ties are, if anything, having a negative impact on his campaign.
It speaks of the skewed perspectives that exist within the minds of many Americans.
As I was watching the video, one of my roommates was listening in as well and when I asked him what he thought of it he replied, "He's just voting for him cus he's black, right?" Then he asked me, "Do you think that Obama is really Muslim? Do you want to risk having someone as President who believes in Muslim Ideals and maybe has some ulterior motives for the direction of the USA?" He didn't say those words exactly because he's a very conservative foreign exchanged student from India, but that was the message he transmitted.
I was a little dumbfounded to hear this immediately after Col. Powell had very eloquently described his disappointment with his party's narrow views...
