Default GT All Star Gaming: BlueFire

A new interview with one of GT's longstay, Bluefire. While he isn't as active on the boards as he use to be, he sure does enjoy beating my ass in Smash Bros.

BaB: Can you tell us about your first experience with video games. And what would eventually lead down the road of my personal dislike of Ike and makes me fear ever playing a Fire Emblem game?

Bluefire:There is a home video of me as a two year old crying because I wanted to play Super Mario Bros. on the NES, but I was stuck in the play pen.

BaB: Haha baby!

Bluefire: Actually I was....

BaB: Carry on then...

Bluefire:Eventually, my mom grew tired of the constant yelling and bitching and so she took me out and allowed me to play with my older brother. There's this expression on my face that still makes me laugh so much... you could almost see the drool falling out, hahaha. Anyways, I think that was my earliest experience with gaming.

BaB: What was your first console and game?
Bluefire: NES, Mario Bros.
BaB: Just gonna assume you mean Super.

BaB: Growing up what games influenced you to become the gaming bully you are today?
Bluefire: Hmm...
Super Mario RPG.. I know that game inside out. Absolutely loved it.
BaB: But it is in Paper Mario... Go on...
Bluefire: Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross- Hell, as a kid, I hardly knew what was going on... but I still have fond memories of Chrono Trigger. Chrono Cross was equally amazing, even though it was unpopular with many Chrono Trigger fans. For that reason, I believe Cross is underrated.

Zelda: OoT- Before this game, I had only played Link's Awakening and the first Zelda for the NES.. I never got a Link to the Past. This game is amazing.. there was nothing like it when it came out.

Smash Bros (1st game, Melee and Brawl)- After I saw the commercial for this game on TV (the one with the guys in the costumes beating the crap out of each other), I knew I needed this game.

BaB: I know you are a bit younger, but Brawl would be a tough sell for a game growing up....

Bluefire: Lastly, Marvel vs Capcom- When I was 10 or 11.. my dad was bring me along to the pool hall.. while he played pool with his friends, I discovered a magical arcade machine... Marvel vs Capcom 2 is better, but this game holds a lot of sentimental value.

There are way more, but those just come to mind immediately.

BaB: What consoles have you purchased/owned in your life?
NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PS, PS2, GCN, Wii..
Handhelds... Gameboy Pocket, Color, Advance and a DS.

BaB: Favorite game.. just don't say Oca...
Bluefire: I'll go with Ocarina of Time.
BaB: *Groans* Favorite console?
Bluefire:hmm.. A tie between the SNES and the PS2 (PS2 mainly because it could play all my PS games along with some good PS2 games )
BaB: Finally, favorite franchise?
Bluefire:Franchise.. I don't know..Silent Hill or Zelda.

BaB: Other than your lust for my blood in Smash Bros, has your gaming taste evolved over time?
Bluefire: Yeah, I would say so. I used to be an RPG maniac, but my interest in the genre has died down a lot. The last Final Fantasy I played through was X, and I thought that game was pretty bleh. I couldn't stand XII... the battle system was too much of a joke. In regards to RPGs, I think they should learn from Star Ocean 3.. the battle system wasn't perfect but it was near it.

From RPGs, I moved to my obsession with Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, etc. Now, I find myself playing games less often, mostly because I don't have a lot of free time anymore. Still, I plan to get a PS3 or 360 sometime soon haven't decided which, yet.
BaB: I'm sure you could make a thread at GT and get a firm and solid single answer from everyone.

BaB: And I like to leave off on this question. Graphics, gameplay or kicking my ass in Smash?
Gameplay. I'm not denying that graphics are important, but I've played some of the "OMG JAW-DROPPING GRAPHICS" games and after a while, you don't really bother to notice the visuals.. you just play because it's fun. If it's not fun, you stop playing. Simple as that.

Thank you for tuning it. Next time join us as we sit down with Canada's own Swan.

Maybe we should start an "I got beat by Ike and my name isn't Tina" support group or something.

Maybe, a facebook group.

They have yet to make a Mario RPG that is as good as our SNES classic, although Partners in Time did have it's entertainment value.

BLueFire also forgot to mention that a lot of games that he's played are MINE.

This was a very insightful interview!

Everyday when I come home, I'm feeling pretty good about myself. How do I remedy this problem you ask?

Simple, I merely play 20 minutes of Brawl with BLueFire and afterward I feel like total shit and/or pissed off as hell.

Hrm, as soon as I get my Wii I'm going to have to challenge BlueFire to some SSBB. I thought I was pretty awesome at SSBM, but it's hard to imagine someone being so insanely good at it that others speak of them with reverence.

Would be cool to see though.

Let's not kid ourselves.
And apparently you've already played Paper Mario so won't need to waste money on it for you like I had to for Dyne.

I dread hearing the IM sound followed by
"You want to play Smash?"
My heart drops and sweat starts racing down my face.

Save yourself the trouble.
Just play 9 comps on insane and only do a move once a minute or so.
Probably will be as fun and about as far as you get.

And now you wonder why you get screwed over in Smash.

One final push here you go.
