Default Yoda's Blog: May the 24th. Revival of the classic RPGs

I borrowed some games from my friend this week. I gave him Mario Kart and Mario Galaxy, he gave me FF7,FFX,FFX-2,Chrono Cross, Fire Emblem (Wii),Dynasty Warriors 4,FF:Tactics. I originally just wanted FF7 and Chrono Cross because I've never played them before, but he just kept pulling them out of the bag when we exchanged.

Like I said, I've never played FF7 and wanted to experience why it's "one of the best games ever." Also, I absolutely adore Chrono Trigger, so I figured that I have to experience the sequel as well.

I started playing FF7 on my PS3 last night only to realize that I can't save it because I didn't create a virtual memory card. Son of a bitch. It was only like 10 minutes to get the first save point, but it was still frustrating. Today will be the first day that I put some serious time into it, so I'll report my progress and thoughts on it my next blog.

Chrono Cross will be next on my classic RPG list to complete. After that, I'll be moving on to finish Paper Mario (N64) of which I'm already halfway through. Then I will top it all off with Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (GCN).

I think your friend got the better end of the deal.

Also I first saw the title only partially and thought you were gonna name it MAY the force be with you.

Double bad pun.

Give up FF7 before you start to fall asleep like I did all the time. I'd recommend just starting Chrono Cross.

Really? I fell asleep playing it today, but I figured that was just because I just got back from a 28 mile bike ride. Really, so far I'm finding it quite enjoyable. But, it is a little painful to have the nice backgrounds combined with the blocky, barely textured characters.

Yeah, no matter what people say about FFVII it willl always hold a special place in my heart. It was the game that convinced me to get a PS1 and get into video games.

But yeah most RPG's have the dreaded intro to a game where you can play it once and that's it. Once you get past it you just never want to think of it again.
