PS3 vs 360
Hey guys, I've decided lately that I'm leaving PC gaming behind (or rather the requirements are leaving me behind ) and want to go towards consoles. Now, the wii is fun and all, I love playing it with friends, but at the same time, I want something a console at home that takes advantage of my HD tv. The wii may come later, but presently I'm trying to decide between Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Please advise in terms of your favorite games for the respective console and also upcoming releases. As far as I can tell (and I may be wrong) it seems that the xbox has the upper hand in this battle thus far, although showcasing lower specs, their exclusive games outweigh those of the Playstation 3 and all of the best games tend to be cross platform. The online portion of the 360 seems much better organized and although requires payment it seems to give a more fulfilling experience than what I see on the playstation 3.
Cheers guys!
edit: sorry guys, I just noticed I put this in the wrong forum, when a moderator spots this please move it as you see fit
Much Obliged.

Re: PS3 vs 360
If you've got an HDTV and a surround sound setup, then PS3 is definitely worth it.

Re: PS3 vs 360
Mass Effect, Bioshock, Acecombat 6, and many others. Plus as you pointed out theres the cross platforming games and the superior online. Not to mention that more of us GTers have 360s, so you can play with us all!
down side : rrod, but thats mostly solved. Still never say never :P

mod? as in a a 360 can be modded? I remember reading about it, but microsoft is pretty good catching people with the mod and ban their xbox live.

No no, R.R.O.D. (Red Ring of Death), which is a (decliningly less) common problem with 360's where their components overheat and potentially cause permanent damage. As for modding your system, yeah, you can mod the drive chip to play burned games. But there's no point to that except piracy, as you can't run anything but officially signed games due to the 360's encrypted CPU.

Re: PS3 vs 360
PS3 is the way to go, far better exclusives (IMO), blu ray player, sturdier hardware, etc. Also, the multiplatform games are starting to look and play better on the PS3.

Re: PS3 vs 360
I'm beginning to wish I hadn't gotten my 360. I just don't use it. I use my PC for almost anything I even consider for my 360.

Re: PS3 vs 360
It's possible that the PS3 may have a brighter future than the 360 at some point, but I believe most of that is speculative. While the PS3 does boast superior graphics capabilities, I don't see it being a huge issue, just as the Xbox's advantage over the PS2 wasn't a huge issue in the previous generation.
As far as online gaming goes, if you want to play games online the 360 has a vastly superior service. I don't think there's really even a question there. Perhaps Playstation Home will be better, but it has been delayed yet again and seems to be facing an uncertain future.

Re: PS3 vs 360
Actually, after working with it, I'd contest that the PS3 doesn't boast superior graphics at all. The PS3 and 360 are evenly matched this generation and excel in different areas depending on the skills of the programmers at each dev studio.

Re: PS3 vs 360
The PS3 doubles as a Blu-Ray player, so if you have a sweeet hi-def setup then you definitely should take that into consideration.
However, the 360 has far superior online support, and it has a pretty nice lineup of games at the moment. However, if you're not a FPS guy, definitely go with the PS3.
However, we all know that PC online gaming > console online gaming.

Re: PS3 vs 360
Playstation has free online.
If you play online, and like to save money, this is a pretty decent thing.
The games for the PS3 and 360 are pretty much interchangable, save games like Halo and Uncharted respectively.
I read somewhere that while 360's commonly overheat (or the early models did) less than 1% of all PS3's have/will overheat and shut themselves off.
But honestly, this is like comparing a black shirt to a white shirt.
It just comes down to what colour you like better.

Re: PS3 vs 360
Also important to remember better graphics doesnt warrant better gaming. The DS for example outsells the psp like its nobodys buisness.

Re: PS3 vs 360
PS3 has been hope for a better future since the day it came out, and still is. Might as well run for President.
Xbox 360 is the best gaming experience you'll ever have, and isn't full of hopeful dreams.
