Default Aladuf Presents: Where'd the PS3 go wrong?

BaB has passed the torch to me to present the PS3 side of this so here goes.

Obviously the PS3 has had a rough lifespan so far (although it's improving greatly) so what exactly is to blame for this?

The PS3 was rushed out, with the 360 launched the year before and the Wii being ready to go for launch Sony seemed to rush to get that thing out. Anybody remember the boomerang controller? Where'd that go?!

Part of it's problem was a lack of games too, it launched with only one solid game and that was Resistance. Slowly after launch it trickled out a couple games but nothing worth it for anyone looking to buy a PS3. PS3 owners sat there with one excellent game to play and nothing else coming down the pipe for them in the near future.

Weak online, When compared to the 360 the PS3 didn't even come close to the features available. At the PS3's launch, the 360 was light-years ahead of it in terms of the Online service.

Probably the most important thing that hurt the PS3 off the bat was the price. The original 60 GB sku that launched cost a hefty $599 and that ain't chump change for a console with only one game that was really worth playing. Also, right by its side was the 20 GB sku that cost $499 which was a pretty big rip off considering it only had a 20 GB HDD and no internal wireless adapter. Since then, we have had price drops and new sku's which have made the PS3 more affordable and worth buying with all of the games available now and more coming down the line.

The last thing I can think of would be the amount of sku's that have been put out. In the lifespan so far of 1 1/2 years there have been 4 sku's which has to be confusing for some shoppers out there. Each one is very different, the 20 GB has no wireless adapter, the 60 GB has hardware backwards compatability (along with the 20 GB), the 80 GB has software backwards compatability, and the 40 GB has no backwards compatability. Sony has put a lot of things out there for such a short period of time.

Basically, that's all I've got for now, anyone else got anything?
