I Love Mass Effect
I just have to say that every once in a while. Its everything that is right about video gaming and should be a blueprint for where true artistry in gaming needs to take us.
Mass Effect is a literary experience, and I'd love to see more of them come to consoles. The fact that it has sold so well gives me joy to no end. Hopefully we'll see more games like it.

Re: I Love Mass Effect
I heartily agree. It's a good thing PC users will get to experience it, too, now, in May.

Re: I Love Mass Effect
Ive been reading the Novel ; "Mass Effect : Revelation" and it gives a lot of insight to things like when man discovered the prothean cache on Mars. A good read if you enjoyed the game.

Re: I Love Mass Effect
I'm currently on Ilos (sp?) and my wife was behind me on the computer. Little did I know she stopped what she was doing and started watching me play for about 2 hrs. All I heard was "thats impressive", referring to the environments and design. Keep in mind she plays zero games and hasn't played since Atari.
She said she doesn't mind me playing the game because "its like a movie" and she can watch it and listen to it in the background, and now she's even into the storyline. I have to promise to play the main story portions when she is home so she can follow along and know what happens.
It's quite odd playing a game and having an audience. I keep hearing "Oh no!" and "Shoot him!" and "Do the power thingy and get him!" She also has to comment on every dialogue chain I engage in. "You should have said the top one."
Bitch! You play the damn game!

They say that something is a good game when it's fun for others to watch you play. I recently experienced that when playing Super Mario Galaxy.

Hahaha that's awesome. My nieces and nephews when they happened to be over were sometimes like that, and it is pretty annoying. "Go over there! Up the hill! Don't you see that thing? Go there! David, David, why aren't you going over there?" Bah!
But if my girlfriend were doing it... I think it would still be slightly annoying but it would be awesome at the same time.

Re: I Love Mass Effect
I just finished the game, and now I am sad. That is such a great game and it got me excited about console gaming (and gaming in general) again.
I beat it as an Adept, and now I've started an Engineer to see how that plays. So far it already seems a lot harder without the defensive capabilities of an adept, like Barrier and Shield Recharge. Anyone have a class that they recommend?
Also, who performs the song that plays during the end credits? Its pretty badass...

Re: I Love Mass Effect
I played through as a Vanguard. Close quarters shotgunning and pistol snipes, with a little bit of biotic powers. I enjoyed that class through and through.

Re: I Love Mass Effect
I just got the game.
For 20 bucks from Gamefly.
Started as an Adept.
Let's see how it goes.
~Edit~
Got my first glitch.
Character was stuck in place.
Couldn't move anywhere.

Re: I Love Mass Effect
I got trapped once on a barren planet, but that was because I was trying to examine the whole thing and made a wrong turn down a steep crevass.
