I don't blame them, I really don't.

If a hot girl walked in with a computer I know I would scour it for pictures. These guys are getting paid to do a boring job in an unprofessional environment...gotta entertain yourself somehow. It's not just porn either, these guys swipe your movies and music too.

I guess the closest analogy I can provide is the car analogy. I don't know anything about fixing cars, so if I were to have a car problem I would send my car in to the car place to get it fixed. Before sending my car in I would remove all the valuable stuff I have in it because you don't know what will happen when you're not there.

A hard drive is a lot like a car. If you put pictures of your naked girlfriend in your glove compartment it would probably get looked at. Leave pictures of your girlfriend on your desktop...same thing.

I don't necessarily think it's right what they are doing, but being a guy and knowing that mostly guys work at the Geek Squad, I know I would snoop around on people's computers.

i always bring up the days when i hung out with my nerdy group of friends...they were all a few years older than me, and most of them wound up with computer science degrees

we'd have LANs with 14+ people, and some of these guys had over 500gigs of porn. They had hard drives and partitions dedicated to their porn. they were proud of their collection. It was not uncommon practice to swap not only video games, but music and movies and porn at these lans. and why not, if you have a 24 port switch hooked up to a data server and a giant network, why not share the wealth.
