Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
I'm going there next Sunday. I liked part 1 and 2, though part 2 was just a repetition of 1.
I read Rottentomatoes, it has a score of 72% so far. Some say it's better than 1 and 2, some say it's worse and some hate it.
So I wanted to know your opinion, since it's usually pretty reliable. I'm also trying to convince my gf to come with me.
Edit: the title should have Spider-Man instead of Spiderman.... I'm such a noob.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
Not out here until Friday. I want to see it though! The Rottentomatoes rating is a bit disappointing, but what the critics say is good about the movie, namely the action, is what I'm going to see it for anyway. Plus I've been waiting since I was like eight to see Spiderman fight Venom on the big screen.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
They brought in the film reels for it yesterday at my theatre. Probably going to have a dry run of it tonight (staff only). But I bought a ticket for the midnight showing at exactly 12:01 A.M on Friday.

Ditto. Just came back from seeing it. Just some quick, spoiler-free thoughts:
-Better than 1. Not as good as 2.
-Cheesy in a couple of parts, but comes together mostly well at the end.
-They shouldn't make a 4.
Maybe I'll expand later.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
I ended getting into the 12:05 am showing. The movies were packed, they had a total of 5 showings, first one at 12:01 and last starting at 12:20. Finally got home, so here is a quick opinion (no spoilers)
It's a long movie, 2 1/2 hours. Fight scenes are sweet. My favorite was the first one. Out of 10, I would give Spiderman 3 a seven. Still a very entertaining movie. But I'm an old Spiderman fan. Part 3 was right on line with the first two. If you enjoyed those, you will enjoy this one.
Was it worth a midnight showing? Yep, so no regrets there.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
spiderman 3's biggest mistake was coming after spiderman 2....
okay, that was one of its many mistakes.
*spoiler*
emo parker was a hoot, seeing a packed theater laughing at the main character was kind of sad...and the whole jazz club dance scene was way to look-i'm-trying-to-be-jim-carey-from-the-mask for me.
there was too much...venom is simply one of the coolest villains, i figured the introduction of JJ's son from the second movie would have been the logical entrance point of the symbiote....instead we get a movie that has way too much going on at once.....we could have had a movie about the sandman, a movie about the second Goblin, a movie about the symbiote suit, and a movie about venom. Each of those 4 things is epic enough to mold a movie around.
Gwen was a waste of character space. I'm still trying to figure out if I enjoyed Topher Grace's performance as Brock/Venom...he was quirky but I like his persona a lot....but maybe that's just a bias from watching all the seasons of That 70's Show. Mary Jane sang...
the list goes on and on but i digress....
i did enjoy a lot of the movie, particularly all the stuff before peter became emo. i really wish more was done with doctor connors or venom though...
On the other hand, the movie did come to a logical conclusion...Harry and Pete became buds again, Harry died so Pete can bang MJ, the Sandman was forgiven, and the movie ended with a totally moral quote.
And I would be happy with the ending and maybe give the movie another star...except apparently there's supposed to be a Spider-Man 4, 5 and 6 in the works at some point.
**** that. If they knew they were making a sequel they shouldn't have botched Venom so bad.
***end spoiler***
Spider-Man 3 was a pretty good superhero movie minus a few gripes, but I spent all week before watching Spider-Man 2 which is a really really really good superhero movie. And Spider-Man 2 kind of takes a lot of the steam out of Spider-Man 3. Even the first Spider-Man does a few things better than Spider-Man 3.
Maybe the Marvel trend will continue...Spider-Man 2 was better than Spider-Man, and X-Men 2 was better than X-Men. Maybe the new Fantastic Four movie won't suck.
I'm not not recommending you go see Spider-Man 3, because it was a pretty good movie. But be warned that there are some cheesey parts between the action. And...if you're a huge fan of Venom, you might be disappointed by just how little of a role he had in the movie.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
KillerGremlin summed up my feelings on a lot of that pretty well...I just got back from it and overall, I thought it was pretty good. Indeed it was over the top cheesy at points, but still a fun movie. I kinda hope they don't make any more movies though especially because McGuire and Raimi probably won't be attached to the project...I'm pretty sure any sequels won't be nearly as good..I'll probably buy all of these when they come out with a special box set or something.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
I saw it tonight. It was ok. As people have said before, the 'drama' was laughable. Too predictable and annoying.
But the action was sweet. Worth the €8 ($12) for a cinema ticket.
Edit: By now I think we've seen all the sweet Spiderman action imaginable. He basicly flies in this movie. He's turned half-evil, he's been loved, he's been hated..... Nothing left. Maybe meeting the X-Men.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
Spoiler!
*********************************************
Some of the dialogue really turned me off and kind of ruins the legacy that Spider-Man 1 and 2 built. The first and second Spider-Man had subtle humor which was enjoyable, witty, and didn't take away from the drama and seriousness. However in this one, it seems all the humor is just laid right out on the table without any consideration for the mood of the film.
For example...
*serious scene*
*Peter has just saved Mary Jane from falling, checking to make sure she is alright*
(Harry Osbourne in the midst of battle with Sandman): "Am I interrupting?" (followed by goofy grin)
That comment just totally ruins the moment created seconds earlier by Peter and MJ as they're gazing into one another's eyes expressing everything they want to say.
Harry Osbourne was a punchline in much of the movie. From his goofy smiling in the hospital bed. The still painting of the basket of fruit. Etc...
And they also went too far with mocking 'Bad Ass Peter'. The whole scene where he's walking along the streets pointing at girls, smirking, going into the clothing shop, was too long.
In SP2 they did it correctly. Peter loses his powers and is walking along the streets with 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' playing. But it only lasts for a minute maybe. Not too short to miss the subtle humor, but not too long to kill the humorous moment.
Anyways, that was my main complaint.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
yeah, I don't like the fact that peter looked like someone from fallout boy.
Loved the movie, didn't like the squeeky voiced venom. Want more story on sandman, and his fam. Harry was a great character.
I didn't think it was cheesy. I mean, any more so than the other spidey movies.
Still, ranks third is spiderman movies. I wanted more "root for spiderman" (shutup bobcat) and less, just plain random action.
Kirstin said if they try to make another movie without Raimi or Tobey, she's out too. So, they will not let that happen.

Re: Who saw Spiderman 3? (give spoiler warnings plzx)
It was a very good film, but it wasn't quite as good as 1 and 2. I also went to a midnight showing, and they had a giant inflatable wall with velcro that you could climb up.
PS. Mary Jane is a bitch.
