Re: Sony shut down Lik-Sang
I don't understand. Sony say that it's because Lik Sang are selling products (PSP's etc) from Asia to Europe and the Asian PSP's aren't conforming with EU regulations for power.
But then......
"Lik Sang strongly disagrees with Sony's opinion that their customers need this kind of protection and pointed out that PSP consoles shipped from Lik-Sang contained genuine Sony 100V-240V AC Adapters that carry CE and other safety marks and are compatible world wide. All PSP consoles were in conformity with all EU and UK consumer safety regulations."
There must be more to it I imagine. I guess for Sony they would have complained about this on more than one occassion...maybe so many times it allowed them to shut down the company.
Aren't there other companies doing the same thing similar to Lik Sang?

Makes it sound like they're upholding some noble duty to their customers...but as you can see from all those comments following the article...

Hahah, oh Sony.
Anyways, that sucks. I hope Play-asia stays around.

Re: Sony shut down Lik-Sang
I have no respect for corporate giants that bring down small businesses that are run by families and operate on positive word of mouth from their customers. All this shows is that Sony is a faceless tyrant whose cowardice shines brighter than it's ridiculous price tags.
If you want to know the real reason behind their terrible act, it's called displaced anger. It happens when you put out a ****ty handheld that stands no chance of success. And when you're unable to face the reality that you made a huge and utterly stupid mistake, you take out the nearest innocent company that does everything in it's power to help aid your wretched creation.
Sony, you've just lost a next generation customer. There's $600 you'll never see again. Owned.

I don't see any justifiable reason for Sony to close down Lik Sang. If they were selling pirated PSP games, or doing anything to damage Sony's reputation, or.....I Dunno.

Re: Sony shut down Lik-Sang
Don't be naive, this has nothing to do with the PSP. Sony wants complete control over the number of PS3's released into Europe to strictly control and monitor the Blueray market.
It's a game.

oh....
But aren't there other companies like Lik Sang available? And still seems drastic to shut down 1 company because of that.

I think Lik Sang had become the largest importer/exporter of cross-region Sony systems. In the end I think they had to start somewhere, and they've started with Lik Sang.

Yes, it was one of the big three. All that's left is Play-asia (which is my favourite) and NCSX.
