itunes 7 is pretty nice. they updated a lot of the problems i had with it for my ipod. im really likeing it so far.

the new shuffle is kinda neat, bout the size of the remote for my ipod. hehe.

the video ipods arent really anything new, they're the same as the current video ipods, but they have new firmware, (which is downloadable for the current video ipods) and they have better battery life for movies (just slightly) im not sure if the better video batter life is an optimization made to software, or a hardware thing.

but i already updated my ipod with the new firmware. only thing its lacking is the Search feature, but if you scroll down thro all the songs now, a little box comes up telling you what letter your on, and it skips from a to b to c.. and so on. which is nice. Also has a brightness control plus they now have downloadable games to put on the ipod. some of em look rather fun if they wernt $5 each. lol. but im sure people will be able to make free ones eventually..

the Biggest thing with the video ipods now is the price.

prices before... 30gb = $300 and 60gb = $400
now................. 30gb = $250 and a new 80gb = $350

honestly, for the amount of storage space now.. the ipods pricing is FAR better then any mp3 player out there.

I might buy some of the movies they're offering. I'm a big disney fan.

I thought Battery life is a HUGE improvement over the first ones? I think I read the 80gig can go about 6 hours now without a charge which before used to be around 2? Thats not just a slight improvement

But I'm tempted to get the 80gig at some point since the price is reasonable and they fixed alot of the complaints by others about brightness and battery life.

i get longer then 2 hours for video on mine... i had heard the new ones were about 2 hours longer then before. number seems to keep changing. mine gets at least 3 hours while watching videos.

i wonder tho if the brightness changes that, if i turn down the new brightness option on mine and watch a video... does it last longer now?

as for movies... its neat that they are offering them, but i woudlnt spend $10 on a movie i can only watch on my ipod or in low resolution on the computer. (altho i do have the av wires to plug the ipod into the tv) Still, id prefer to just buy the movie on DVD and convert it over onto the ipod like i have been. much better value still.

I think that's where the iTV is going to come into play.

So I’m going to talk to it using wireless network, to get the content from the computer to the box, from the box to the TV.

lol. and what resolution can your big flat screen display at and what resolution will these itunes movies download at?

if you have a normal tv sure, maybe you wont notice. but a 600x300 resolution movie is going to look like crap on your high def tv. and probably not even as good as a DVD on a normal tv.

its a neat idea. and im sure the itv can be used for otherstuff which makes it more useful then for just the downloaded itunes movies.
but still. i'd rather buy the DVD and use all this and much more then to buy the itunes movie and be stuck witha file thats very limited...

(i hope apple is doing something about that stupid bug they'd had with itunes downloads. you buy something, and somtimes you unlock it for one other computer, and it says you've now used your 5th out of 5 times. so if you ever lose the file, or reinstall windows, that file you bought is worthless.)

thank goodness for the DRM stripping files that i was able to take that DRM crap out of my itunes music files. now im free to do what i want with them.

That redesign of the Nano was very much needed. My brothers has scratched something terrible, and he takes very good care of it. Not to mention that the first one he had crapped out on him, luckily it was still under warranty and after a little bitching to apple he got a new one for free.

But seriously, why buy a Nano now, when the prices of the Video's are so good?

i've always wondered why buy a flash based one at all ever... they are all insanely overpriced for the amount of storage you get.

Mainly for the "small portability" factor. Not some big thing on your side or your arm when outside walking or running. But yeah, the price on the largest Nano makes no sense when you can get a video ipod for the same price with more storage (unless you really want it for the small factor)
