Movie Ticket Price
How much do you normally pay for a movie ticket where you live? Here in NYC I believe it's over $10 now for a normal ticket with matinee at $7. According to wikipedia the average ticket in the US in 2005 cost $6.41 which surprized the hell out of me, so now I'm curious what everyone here pays.

Re: Movie Ticket Price
9.75 in the Bay Area for a night show. More ridiculous.
Up at school its down to about 8.00 or something like that. 6.50 for a matinee. Still really high.
Not to mention the absurd costs of popcorn and sodas in these places. Coupled together, its no wonder why less and less people are going to the movies and more people are just renting when they come out. Netflix is the wave of the future.

Yeah, $9.75 at my place too. That's why I got a job at the theatre, free admission. ^_^
Blackmane, where in the Bay Area are you?

Re: Movie Ticket Price
6.50 for student tickets at one of my theaters, otherwise the range is from 5 to 9.50 depending on times and theater.
They really get you with snacks though.

Re: Movie Ticket Price
Depends on Theater. Go to AMC and its usually around $8.
Go to a cheaper looking theater playing same movie, $5-$6 sometimes.

Re: Movie Ticket Price
I don't pay anything. I get free movies.
Normal people, however, have to pay:
$6.50 for matinee (and military and student discounted tickets in the evening)
$6.00 for seniors (over 60) all day
$5.00 for children (under 14) all day
$8.50 for evening prices.
And then, if the movie happens to be playing in the Cine Capri, you add 50 cents to everything (so matinee would be $7.00 and evening would be $9.00).
/me shrugs and walks away

anywhere from $5 to $12 (canadian), depending on theatre/time...on average, I probably dish out $8-$10

I'm in Antioch over the summer. I try to avoid going to lots of movies so I can actually save some money, but I just couldn't avoid going to see Clerks II last night

Re: Movie Ticket Price
For a night time movie I think I pay at least $7.50 or 8. Depends if I can hustle a student discount even though I'm not a student anymore, then I can get in cheaper (sometimes.)

Re: Movie Ticket Price
If its a night movie for me its usually around 8...well it really depends. If I really go to my CLOSEST theatre, which is really starting to show its age, as in no stadium seating or Dolby Digital, I think its only like 7 for a night movie and 5 something for a matinee. If I go to the local top-of the line theatre(which has all stadium seating, and digital projectors), I think its 8 something at night and 6 something for a matinee.
