Re: DDR anyone?
I gave it a try at a friends house. Quite embarrassing.
Good workout though.

Re: DDR anyone?
Which versions are you guys playing? I play it MAX and MAX2.
I hate to sound all preachy but it helped me lose 85 pounds a year ago. Nowadays, it's a great way to improve my stamina.
If you're considering it as a workout, it's cheaper to just buy a pair of running shoes and run in the morning. DDR isn't as good as running by a long shot - but it's a fun distraction.

Never tried it. When I see those kids play it at the arcade...I can't bring myself to give it a go.

Re: DDR anyone?
Speaking of videogame workouts, this game at a local arcade, I cant remember what its called exactly, I know it is a konami game, is quite possibly the greatest videogame workout ever. It can detect your movements, so you are constantly ducking down to cover from fire then getting back up to return fire. And moving your upper body right and left to duck behind objects. Very fun, but also very physically demanding. I find myself to be in fairly decent shape, and my thighs were killing me after playing for probably no more than 15 minutes.
Another one that comes to mind are those boxing arcade games with the real gloves, where you can move around and actually hold the glove like contraption and actually physically punch. Those things will make you sweat.

I have two DDR friends. I only play it when I'm hanging out with them. I'm not very good. I can't sync my body with my sense of rhythm.

Xbox version is broken. The timing is all off, at least UM 1 and 2 were like that. I mostly play in the arcade. I can AA or AAA all songs on heavy except the 10s (With the exception of Sakura and Bag)
The last time I played in the arcade was like 3 months ago though. When I'm not playing in the arcade I'm rocking on my cobalt flux. I must say it put me in pretty good shape, and it's my favorite way to get sweaty. err... second favorite.
EDIT:
Stepmania is sweet. I play stepmania a lot. The timing is a little more forgiving than at the arcade, but it does help you practice to get the basics for the game like heavy mode.
