King Kong
Highly recommend checking it out. Its a very good "remake". Worth the 3 hour sitting time.
I think if Peter Jackson can keep this up, he'll become the next Speilberg.

Re: King Kong
I heard the special effects are out of this world and unlike anything we've ever seen. I also heard it's better than the original Star Wars trilogy.
Think it's due at my theatre this Friday. I will see it.

Re: King Kong
Its official release date is today Gamemaster, its out.
Special Effects were done very well I will say that. I dont think at any point any special effects were done wrong. But the balance of effects made the movie alot better. It didnt feel "overly bearing" or whatever like say..Star Wars is on them nowadays

I saw it last night. Very good movie - well worth the price of admission and time.

Why is remake in quotations? Its an old movie made again by a different guy. Remake...
Anyway...
I was supposed to see it today after I got off work, but then the power (in the entire city district my theatre is in) went out, so... Not so much.
And Jonbo: A movie's (or anything's for that matter) release date is not necessarily the day that all theatres will begin showing a movie. Its pretty much just the day that the studio says the theatres can begin showing it, and people can begin seeing it. Theatres don't have to release it on that exact day.
Just like theatres keep some movies longer than others and other theatres don't get some movies at all. Just depends...

Re: King Kong
Am really the only one that didnt think this movie was FREAKING AMAZING000rZ!!!111?
I'll admit it was a good movie, Im glad I saw it, but I cant say its one of the top 3 or even top 5 movies ive seen this year. I thought Kong looked great, but somehow the Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park looked more realistic to me than the ones in King Kong, and Jurassic park is a 12 year old movie.

That's probably because the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are real life animatronics, whereas the dinosaurs in King Kong are CGI.
Considering what was involved in the dinosaur scenes, I don't think animatronics were an option for this movie. It was good stuff though; it's meant to be an entertaining, action-packed adventure, not necessarily a realistic adaption of dinosaurs and a giant gorilla living in their natural habitats.

Right, exactly. There is such a thing as too much CGI, and I think they went a little overboard with the entire dinosaur chase scene.

Re: King Kong
Not all the dinosaurs were animatronics, only in some scenes. I almost dare to say that the JP dinosaurs have not yet been surpassed. Almost.

Re: King Kong
Saw it Wednesday. Was pretty good. Not great. Kong's expressions were crafted expertly. Quite more laughs than I thought there would be. Dunno if all were intentional though. I think I liked *SPOILER* (if a remake can have one)
the insect scene the best. The insects destroying the already fallen group with that eerie music playing. It was the high point for me. Very well done.
*SPOILER done*
If you think about it logically: there are dinosaurs on the island. DINOSAURS! And they bring back a 25 foot gorilla...
