To hell and back...
Not sure if any of you noticed, but I hadnt posted prior to today for over a week. I have been in the hospital. This whole thing started a few weeks ago when I suddenly noticed I was having shortness of breath. I went to the doctor, he said I had bronchitis, and sent me on my merry way. A week later my condition hadnt improved, a chest X-ray was done, and it was concluded that I had a pnumeothorax(collapsed lung) I went to the hospital, they put a tube in my chest, the air was released, and I was sent home 2 days later. Fine and dandy until the same thing happened again a week later. This time they did surgery, cut off the bad portion of my lung and stapled in back together. I finally got home today, cant do much for 2 weeks, cant even drive. They dont know how it happened, they say a lot of times things like this happen to someone in a car accident or something, but they can also happen out of nowhere. Let me just say none of us have any idea how lucky we are just to be healthy.

Re: To hell and back...
Are you going to be permanantley weaker? That sounded really serious and scary. It just goes to show, something bad could happen to one of us and no one would ever know. We all need to treasure each other and tell each other how important we are to one another.

Re: To hell and back...
Wow..... a collapsed long out of nowhere??
Did it happen graduately? Because you would have noticed it if half of your breath would have suddenly been gone..?
Glad you're better now.

Re: To hell and back...
I'm glad that you're okay. My best friend had a collapsed lung out of nowhere back in October, and it didn't help that he was in a two jazz bands. Your case was a little worse though seeing as you had surgery. I hope you feel better.

Re: To hell and back...
Yeah, I can attest to the "have no lucky how it is to be healthy" when I had my moment of I went to bed perfectly fine, wakeup in 3 hours feeling like utter crap to no end then a few days later in the hoispital for surgery for something the doc cant even explain why it happened
But good ot hear your ok!

I ask you, is your best friend tall and thin? Ive been told multiple times that a spontaneous collapsed lung is most commen on tall, thin males ages 16-25. Which is exactlly what I am. 6 foot tall, 150lbs. It still scares you ****less though that this can happen out of knowhere. I just pray every night that it never happens again. As for it making you weaker, its not really suppoused to, at least not really. I dont believe im suppoused to scuba dive, I can fly no problem, but if the plane were to de-pressureize, then there could be a problem. Basically, ive been told I still have to live my life. I cant be worrying about it happening again constantly (which sadly is what Im sure I will do for a long time.)

Re: To hell and back...
I agree with the doctor: try not to worry about it. Stay optimistic.
