Rallisport Challenge 2
Possibly the least played game on my entire list, and the point where I’m sure many of you are really going to start shaking your collective heads.
My favorite “reality based” (as opposed to Mario Kart, etc.) racing game of all time, as well as one of the best looking games of this generation. Took the rock-solid gameplay of the first and did exactly what a racing sequel should. Added more modes, more cars, more tracks, live play, cranked up the graphics and didn’t compromise. Rallisport Challenge 2 is FUN, *******IT!
It’s so easy to pick up and play, looks slick as hell, and has tons and tons of replay value with hundreds of unlockables. It lets you customize your cars but does it in such a way that anyone can personalize their ride to their driving styles without bogging them down in copious sim elements. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, mind you, but it maintains a bit of the sim feel while still being an easily accessible racer.
Sadly, Rallisport Challenge 2 sold poorly, but that means it can be had for under 10 bucks now. If you’ve never played it and you own an Xbox, you simply must pick it up. More pure fun than PGR, more accessable than GT and F Zero GX, deeper than MKDD, it's the 9th best game of this generation.
