There's absolutely not a doubt in my mind: Mario Kart DS is the greatest Mario Kart game ever, which, in turn, makes it the greatest Kart racer game ever created.

9.5 Presentation
Incredibly thorough single and multiplayer experience with tons of options to beef up the variety. The online component works simply and elegantly, but it's just a little too restrictive.
9.0 Graphics
Super fast, super smooth 3D engine drives the action. All the Mario-esque elements are represented here, and even though the characters are low-poly they still look fantastic.
9.0 Sound
The happy, peppy Mario style of music continues on its happy and peppy direction. Some voice samples are more compressed than others. Stereo effects are outstanding and work well on the DS speakers.
10 Gameplay
This is the best of the Mario Kart best. Kart and weapon balance is incredibly tight, new track designs are fantastic, and the game has an extraordinary amount of playtime well after
10 Lasting Appeal
If there's any game you'll continuously come back to, it's this one. Single cart, multiple cart, and online multiplayer, and single player finally has "bots" for practicing Battle Mode!
9.5
Incredible OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Re: PSPowned
How does this game being good make the PSP any less good or "owned"?
Explain this to me, Crash.

Re: PSPowned
The killer app for PSP is GTA for the moment. Reviews have been pretty good, but still I wanna try it.
Nice score for MK. I'm gonna get it very very soon!

Re: PSPowned
I'm sorry, but if your "killer app" is a racer, and one thats been reinvented 2-3 times previously (I lost count) for other platforms... you got problems.
Personally I'm waiting for Donkey Kong Badminton and Metroid Gin-Rummy.

I'm just curious.. why can't a racer be a killer app?
I mean you got Project Gotham Racing on Xbox and Gran Turismo on the Sony systems so I see racers as killer apps.
Heck, I can see any genre as a killer app.
And quite frankly on a game that averages a little more than 2 million sold per systems in North America alone, its a pretty big killer app.

Re: PSPowned
And PSP's is GTA. Liberty City Stories is the 7th incarnation of the series, while this is Mario Kart's 5th (6th if include the arcade version few here will ever play). And could be argued that the original GTA, 2, and London 1969 don't count...but then again MK has been one to a system whereas we've had three GTAs in four years. And if your reason is that it's a racer and not because it's a sequel I guess Forza Motorsport and the Burnout series should also be ignored as "killer apps". *shrug*
EDIT: Argh. Four min late.

Re: PSPowned
In my mind, a "killer app" should be a game that is associated with a system on first glance. Gran Tourismo is the only game that I can consider a system seller that is a racer. Xbox has its Halo, Sony has its GTA and Nintendo has Marioslut. Project Gotham? Meh.
My post was more aimed at Nintendo's continued whoring of their oldest franchises, but if you want to concentrate on the first half of my first sentence, go right ahead.
Oh, and BTW, the Cheeseburger Defeats Steak pic is classic. I think you may have a cult phenomenon in the works.

I'm right with you on Marioslut but MK's been around so long that I don't consider part of his whoring. If someone said one of his sports, party, dance, mahjong, etc. titles was a "killer app" (a term I hate) I would take your stance (unless it was friggin unbelievable). Nintendo knows what sells.
Hmm...of couse this might be an evil plot of the World Plumbing Council...
