Do You Think That Time and Location Affects the Outcome of Things?
I was just thinking, and I ended up thinking about this. Do you think that the outcome of something would be the same if you were at a different location? Or if an event got delayed, would you still do the same things that you did while you were there?
I am just kind of curious about what you guys think about this question. I think my brother said that the movie, "The Time Machine" explored this question, but it got extremely bad reviews, so I might just rent it when it comes out on DVD.
And here are some example situations that you guys can base your opinions on. And BTW, they are all true events that happened to me.
Situation 1 :
I am at the James Peek Memorial Golf Tournament. I finished eating supper, and the raffle was just about to start. But, suddenly the sky darkened, and the rain started to poor down on everything. The raffle was moved inside, and we continued our day. The little prizes were first, and then the big prizes were about to be drawn. My brother won a PS2. And my dad won a DVD player.
Now, do you think that if there wasn't a rain delay, and if the raffle wasn't moved inside, would my brother and dad be the big winners of the day?
Situation 2 :
I am at my friend's house for a sleep over. We are playing poker and other types of gambling games. The hand is dealt, and I had 5 of a kind (I had three 2's and two aces, 2's were wild). I had this, and my friend had a Royal Flush. We had a big discussion (about 10 minutes long) about what hand wins. Then we decided to go on the internet to find out. Turns out I was right, and I won! After this hand, and started to play amazingly. I won $76 that night.
Now, do you think that if there was not a big discussion over that one hand, that I would have changed my losing ways, and be the victorious person of the night?
I hope to see your opinions on this, and feel free to use my two example situations.

I actually do feel that in most cases, the outcome will be dependant on time and place!
Let me use this example:
In one case, you left the house later than schedule to met someone. You go by walk, and when you cross the road, you get run over by a maniac!
Now I feel if the person had left on time, he would NOT have been run over, simple because the 'maniac' in the car would be 10 minutes behind where he would be at the moment. Now, this might not stop another incident from occuring, such as another person running this man over, but you would know that it would be a totally new siuation.
So yes, time and location depend the outcome of 'most' cases!

Yeah, I agree. Time and location effects the outcome of things.. it makes quite a big difference.
Situation 1
You had a ticket for one of the doomed flights on the day of the September 11th attacks. You're getting ready to head to the airport when your wife calls from upstairs. She's become really sick overnight, you decide to stay with her for comfort for a few minutes before heading to the airport. You spend 20 minutes hold her, then kiss her goodbye and rush to the airport. You miss your flight by 10 minutes, but you are still alive.
Situation 2
You're at school, and the past few days, and you decide to head down to the library to chat with your friends and see if they have the latest edition of Biker Magazine in. On the way, you run into your ex-girlfriend, and get into a little bit of an argument with her. You spend about 5 minutes arguing with her before a teacher tells you both to move along. You head towards the library again, and you hear gunshots. You duck into the nearest room. What happened is that some student opened fire on a crowded library. Had you been arguing with your ex-girlfriend, you would have been a statistic of school violence.

I often think this in life, like this one time before I was born, my mother was walking through town, she walked past a shop and then a bit of roof crashed onto the pavement behind her, had she been literally 2 seconds slower for some reason or another, she would be dead, I would never have been born and thus would not be here posting now.
Another situation, if Nintendo never approached Sony asking them to make a CD attachment for the SNES, would Sony be in the computer gaming market now?
Lots of things, strange occurances like this happen in life, its all part of the complex network of 'Life' or as Mufasa (From the lion king) would say, They're all part of the great circle of life.

Time and location do make a big difference on the outcome of events. One that personally happened to me was when I was walking home from school and I was about to cross an intersection. Just before I went across I noticed my shoe was untied, so I stopped to tye it. Just then, a lady spun right around the corner and sped right through the intersection. If I hadn't noticed my shoe I might have been hit.

Now I hate to bring something aspect into this conversation, but in order for time and location to affect something. You have to question whether you have control over it or not.
I mean you always hear the story of the lady who was lucky enough to be saved because she had to tie her shoe when a bus came whirling down the street.
Now you would say that her time and location were the cause of her not being hit. But then you have to wonder was she supposed to be there to begin with or was it always planned for her to miss the whirling bus?
I'm not saying that time and location isn't important to the oputcome of the event, but you got to wonder if it was planned that way or was it planned differently and you somehow changed it.

Yeah... I think kind of like that too. Like, is everything in our lives planned? Does God know exactly what we are going to do, and when we are going to do it? Or does God just lay out the options on a table (life, death, happy, sad, etc), and whatever we do affects the outcome. Damn this is confusing.
