From Gamespot:
"GameSpot has confirmed that Konami Computer Entertainment of Japan plans to release a new Contra title for the Sony PlayStation 2 in Japan. The company has not announced the game's official title, release date, or price point, but online retailer GameStop does have a listing for a PlayStation 2 game called Contra: Shattered Soldiers"

Bah. I hope it doesn't suck like the contra games on psone. If they want to make a new contra game they should make it 2d!!
I heard someone say that there will be a contra game on GBA, is that true?

God I hate it when people say stuff like that... Like "Uh oh! They've sucked in the past in 3D so they will always suck and they should just give up!" is basically what it sounds like...
Developers can't just ignore 3D... they have to try their games in 3D... sometimes they may screw it up the first couple tries, but once they find a good "3D formula" for their game everything will be nice and good...
Anyways... I havn't even played much Contra... just Super C (that's contra, right? The C stands for Contra? It's on NES... made by Konami)...
But if it's good I'll get it

I don't really mind if they make the new contra game 3d, as long as it plays like the older games, but i don't want another crappy contra game like the 2 contra games released on the psx. konami also screwed castlevania when they made it 3d. They released a 3D castlevania on n64 and a 2d castlevania on psx. The n64 castlevania was a good game but the psx game was 100 times better.
Now i'll leave to eat a little hamburguer

I agree
SotN = Best castlevania ever...
But I think a good formula for a 3D castlevania is like... kinda more adventurey... Keep making some 2D games for crazy action, but for 3D make it like more outside areas and towns like Castlevania 2, RPG elements like SotN's... y'know, HP, level ups, lots of weapons and armor and items and such... and maybe have time pass... like in Castlevania 2...
Imagine making your way through dark, foggy forests or swamps and over mountains and through caves to get to Dracula's castle... and then having a big castle area too, just like in the other games... and there wouldn't be levels or anything, you could explore as much as you want like in SotN...
But I dunno cuz they don't have a castlevania game like that so I dunno if it would be good or not... it just sounds good to me

I don't know about that :P Have u played all the castlevania games? I have played most of them and i think the best are sotn and castlevania 3, but I haven't played Dracula X on Turbo Graphics 16 or something like that :P I heard that it's the best castlevania because it has anime scenes and you can also play as another character. To tell you the truth. I played it cuz i downloaded the ISO and played it on a TG16 emulator and it was awesome, but it had no music cuz i needed to download the mp3s for the music and i didn't download the mp3s :P blah blah blah, i talk so much crap, don't I? But i think the best is Symphony of The Night cuz it's like a mix of castlevania and metroid

That sounds good Remember that Castlevania game that was coming for dreamcast? It was looking awesome and then they cancelled it. I wish there would be a new castlevania on gamecube or ps2 with all those thing you said

Well I've plaaaaayed.... Castlevania 1... 2.... 3....... yeah... I loved 2 when I was a kid, and I also owned 3, but I didn't like it as much... I always got stuck at this one level... I think it's the one where it starts off and a bunch of blocks are falling or something... or if I took another route, I got stuck on the pirate ship or whatever...
And then I rented the hell out of Castlevania 4 on SNES... it's my second fav. Castlevania game...
Then I bought Castlevania 64 the day it came out... and later rented LoD...
aaaaand bought Castlevania: SotN... havn't played any of the GB ones though, if there are any original ones on there besides ports... and I heard the GBA one is really good too... I wanna play it...
I never really played much of that second castlevania game on SNES... the one with richter... I heard that it was like a watered down version of some other castlevania that wasn't released in the US...
I also played castlevania chronicles... bought it, didn't like it too much, almost beat it in a couple days, but decided to return it to software etc...
On a side note, I heard that konami was talking about plans to remake other older castlevania games on various platforms... I hope they do that with that Dracula X or whatever the name of the non-watered down second SNES castlevania game was
*realizes this topic was about Contra*... umm... err... hmm *rubs chin*.... *runs away*

I just bought Contra for my NES, and it's a pretty good game. I don't mind if it's in 3d when it comes out for the PS2, but I hope developers don't convert all their classic games to 3d, because I still like to play 2d games once in a while.

Contra! Joy! I hope the develeopers learn the lesson that Castlevania 64 taught all of us gamers... some 2d games just don't work in 3d.

I agree. I mean, looked what happened to Sonic... it's hit rock bottom, as far as I'm concerned. Some games just aren't meant to make that transformation. Like all these cheap PacMan 3D take-offs. The originals are the best.

Well, I think I'll disagree with you there. Sonic Adventure 2's stages where you actually play as Sonic or Shadow feel like the old, classic sonic. It's the addition of the crappy shooting and treasure hunting games that made it suck so much. I'm still baffled over that descision.

I have Castlevania 1 and 2 for my NES, and they're both great. Is the N64 version really that bad? Also, is it in 1st person, or 3rd person?
