Default Robots learning to walk

Walking, it turns out, requires a zillion tiny calculations to keep balance and avoid obstacles. It's so complex, Darpa notes, that "handcrafting the control laws and parameters" needed for robots to hike "may not even be possible with reasonable effort." So instead, Darpa would like to get the bots to figure out how to walk on their own.

Yeah, Honda has been working on walking robots for a while I think. They even have one on the market called Asimo, I think it's for consumer retail although I don't know anyone who owns one.

Having the robot teach itself rather than us doing all the work is an efficient choice. It saves us time and forces the robot to use its artificial intelligence.

As soon as they learn to walk, they learn to walk away.

AI is a very dangerous area to explore...take I, Robot for example, even with basic laws, there might be a loop-hole.

or in The Matrix, robots or other machines might find a way to control themselves.

in anycase, i think that AI should not be allowed to exist...i think the farthest that humans should create "AI" is to robots acting like humans without emotions, BUT all they know should be programmed into them rather than them learning on their own...that way there wouldn't be any threat...if you teach them to take out the trash, then they will do only that and not ask questions.

and i think the way it should be programmed is through CDs/SD cards...or whatever other compact media they will have in the future...but whatever it is, it shouldn't be through auditory/visual means becuase the AI being could hear/see something and learn from that, if it's a movie about WAR...that will definetly not be good.

I agree. AI doesn't sound like a smart move.
