Default Silent Hill 5 in the works

Quote:
TOKYO--Given the popularity of Konami's Silent Hill and Winning Eleven franchises, it wasn't a question of if the publisher would make new games in the series, but when.

Apparently, that "when" will be "soon." Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo has posted a series of job listings on its Web site for new programmers for both its Silent Hill and Winning Eleven development teams. Given the fact the posts say Konami urgently requires staff to fill the positions, it's safe to assume the publisher is ramping up development for the next installments in both series. This is bigger news for Silent Hill fans, since Winning Eleven games are basically annual events already.

Additionally, KCET has begun to recruit programmers for an unnamed new project, according to the site. GameSpot will have more information on all three games as it becomes available.

Well I think it's a given that they would be working on a 5th game...

But the question is... PS2 or PS3? *strokes beard*

Whatever, I hope they can work on the gameplay some more... RE4 nailed the gameplay of their series with some nice little changes and stuff, SH4 mixed it up, but still came out with sluggish gameplay...

Don't even get me started on those damn wall monsters in the subway...

I think I read somewhere that the 5th is the last one on the PS2.

I'm assuming PS2... Lots of time left before PS3 hits the shelves.

True... But I think there should be lots of time before the next Silent Hill hits the shelf... U.U

I think they're pumping them out a bit too fast... 3 was kinda mediocre (due to a fairly predictable story), and 4's story was a bit of a step up, but looking back at it I really didn't like what they did with the gameplay... Especially after seeing how Capcom improved theirs for RE4

I think they should give it a rest this gen, spend some time creating a very nice, totally new stand-alone story, have it take place fully in Silent Hill... Mixing mostly new areas with a couple brief moments into areas from past games (maybe SH1? We already revisited some places of SH2 in 3)... Take advantage of the muchly improved graphical power of PS3 to help give the game's atmosphere another boost...

Do away with having to kick enemies when they're down, and try harder to improve the gameplay... And bring back the old inventory system... No more box...

Oh and no more enemies that chase you around everywhere... They added a new level of tension to the game yes, but it also got a bit annoying after awhile, and it definately gave you less time to stop and take everything in...
