Default Fanboy-ism at it's best.

I was looking at PS2's on Amazon.com and saw that one reviewer, seemed to just totally bash the PS2, and gave priase and glory to the Xbox. This wasn't to my liking as.. that belongs in the Xbox reviews... not the PS2s.....I thought to myself...... this is truely the case of fanboy-ism. I wrote a review myself for Amazon.com for the PS2 in response to that guy:

Quote:
The Sony Playstation2 is arguably the most versatile system out there. I dare not say the best, because that word spawns fanboys from forums like no other. I've read the many reviews for this system on here that is simply grotesque. Some reviews are just praise and glory for other systems, which really belongs in their own item slot, not the PS2's.

Without a doubt, Nintendo was the best gaming brand until they dug their own grave. The Playstation was originally for SNES as a CD Addon. However Nintendo dropped the idea and simply gave away one of their most prized concepts. Arising from the ashes came the Sony Playstation, and it rocked the sales charts. Now, evolving into something more than just a mediocre game system, comes the Playstation 2.

The first gaming system to implement a DVD playback system and the first to implement backward compatibility. Think of the PS2 as a new Honda Civic. Works like the old ones, but some aspects are just too new and beautiful to overlooked.

Microsoft in their own right, released a computer. The Xbox is basically a computer. Without a doubt it does tower over Gamecube and Playstation2 in terms of graphics and it has a couple of games working for them, but resting beneath the hype of all that, is PS2's long and loyal line of games and developers who've always produced some of the sickest games I've seen and enjoyed. Someone who buys a console over graphics, is a true newbie...a peon if you will. A good game requires depth and perception. A true game requires a storyline, and something that pulls you through...not just rich graphics.

However, if you have money...Purchase all the consoles and enjoy the best of all worlds, rather then dwelling in the realm of adolescent fanboyism. That's right..adolescent fanboy-ism is basically a person who will buy just one system and not experience anyting else, nor give anything else a chance.

But after I purchased all the systems, I knew that fanboys were missing out on a lot. Buying one system? You should get the PS2 for it's versatility and entertainment value. Got the money? Buy them all...
What do you guys think?

The first few words of the guys supposed "REVIEW" of the PS2 was "This system sucks! You guys should get the Xbox! Gamecube blows too!......" It continued with pointless adolescent rants.....

Comments?

It's good. Although, I daresay you're going to be critisized heavily. But I assume you knew that before you posted this.

The only thing I saw in there that was wrong was the statement that the PS2 was the first video game system with backwards compatability. Backwards compatability in consoles is something that stems back all the way to the Atari 7800 which was compatible with the older 2600 games and the new 7800 games (the 7800 games had better graphics, although mysteriously the sound chip was the same on both - crappy unfortunately).

Anyway, probably a better review than the others on Amazon.

Heh, you'd expect those guys of Amazon to check the submitted reviews.....

It's basically a history lesson. Not quite as long, but extremely boring.

I'd call Ps2 a computer before I'd call Xbox one :P But either way, not too bad of a review.

well, based on how they're built, xbox is much more like a computer then ps2.

and thats a good thing, not a bad thing.

I dunno, Ps2's non-remote DVD playback, CD player, Upgradeable Hard drive slot, network adapter, and USB ports (and iLink port) just make Ps2 seem more like a computer to me on the outside

And I can see where you're coming from on that. But once you actually mod an Xbox (or really look at what's inside) you really see how similar an Xbox functions to a PC. It has lettered drives for God sake (ie C:\). Plus once the security measures are down you can replace the HDD, DVD Drive, RAM, etc.

Fanboy-ism at its best? Hah, I'll show you some fanboy-ism

...ahem...

PS2 SUXXORS!1!1!! NINTENDO IS FOR LITTLE BABY KIDS WITH DIAPERTS11!!!!!1 THE PS2 HAS WORSE GRAPHICS THAN THE COMMODORE 64!1!!!!! THE XBOX IS A PILE OF SUCK CAUSE ITS MADE BY M$ SO ITS THE "CRASHBOX" ANMD WILL FAIL DEATH TO BILL GATE$!1!1!!!!!!!1!!

TIRBO GRAPHIX 16 ROXXONRS ALL BOXXORS!!!!!!1!1!

Now THATS fanboy-ism at its finest. Your example... not hardly. All he said was that the Xbox was a more powerful console in one sentence, which is stating the obvious and not being biased. The majority of the review was about experiencing all of the consoles to get the best gaming experience. Whats "fanboyish" about that?

Read the post Strangler...

He posted a praise and glory review to the Xbox... in the PS2 reviews......
Did he do that mistakenly... I think not, because he bashes the pS2 in the review too saying how much it sucks and Xbox is better than it.

Thats not a review at all... thats a fanboy post, to effect people trying to buy it off Amazon.

If anything he should've posted a neat little review stating how good the Xbox was... ON THE XBOX product page... not the PS2....

You understand me now?
