Look, there are a lot of features that iTunes has that people are going to appreciate. Burning CD's (standard or MP3), iPod support, WAY better visualizations, an online music store, over 300 internet radio streams (add your own too), lots more...
XMMS also has features that iTunes doesn't have (I think

). They are both targeting different markets. I'm part of the iTunes market.
