The engine is the gameplay, to a certain extent. it does a lot of the basic code, graphics, collision detection, things like that.
but it in no way decides how the game is handled. you'd be surprised how many games run on the same engine, you could get a FPS engine and make a car racing game if you wished. XIII, (the cel shaded FPS game) runs on the new Unreal Games engine. etc.
The way im refering to it in this case is... SC2 has a wonderful colision detection, models are very flexable. Its in 3D so you can make it any view angle one wished to make. IMO, a basic engine like that would be wonderful in a wrestling game. instead of how some wrestling games are that look like your sliding a cardboard cut out around. sure they may look real, but they move like they have a 2x4 for a spine, (maybe the newer ones like RAW 2 im hoping will be much more flexible)
