As for your interactivity, it does add a sense of excitement, but it even still limits the players.
What I am suggesting is that each player PMs any basic strategies they have (i.e. setting up traps, searching for help, going hunting, using their gun to... shoot things, etc..). Then, you can lay out the scenarios as you normally were, but instead of having three options that you thought up, the player will have to choose an option of their own. That is, "Rndm runs into a pack of wolves... what does he do?"
I can send in, "feed the wolves pieces of the corpse and then use the vacuum as a club", which is similar to what you suggested earlier... or I can get even more creative and vacuum up some blood, put the machine in reverse, and spray the mess all over the wild dogs (blinding and confusing them) so that I can escape without wasting my corpse.
Sound decent, or too complex?
