But remember Bond, Animal Crossing was originally a '64 game (in Japan). So I'm pretty sure it came out before The Sims.
And on the subject of the 'Cube.
I've been satisfied with my 'Cube. I've had it since day 1 and I don't regret purchasing it. I liked Metroid Prime because it was an FPS/FPA and thats one genre I love. Wind Waker was great to me also because its a Zelda game and (almost) any game with Zelda in the title is good, IMO. People just complain because they think Nintendo's quality has gone downhill. I for one don't think that.
People will always find something wrong with a Nintendo game. They either complain X game is too "different" from its previous ones, or if X game is too similar to the past one's, people complain its not different. All I have to say is "shut up and make up your mind".
Nintendo should get more aggressive with their next console/handheld. They have been a little too passive (or whatever word I'm trying to think of). Since Sony and MS feel that they want to cram 50 things into a box, Nintendo should advertise heavily how its a dumb idea and its only costing more to the consumer to get things you either don't use or will sparingly use. Then heavily advertise how all gamers want to do is "PLAY GAMES". But alas, it probably won't help because people are brainwashed into thinking they need 50 useless things, and not just the core of what a product
is supposed to do.....play games.
