That didn't sound right to me, so I looked something up.

"Celebrating 10 years on PBS, the Emmy Award-winning Barney & Friends continues to entertain, educate and enrich the lives of children worldwide, remaining one of the top-rated TV shows for preschoolers." - http://pbskids.org/barney/pareduc/index.html

Barney is a dinosaur who "...was developed to address the interests and needs of young children ages two to five years."

Let's say a two year old was watching the show when it originated. They'd now be 12 years old. Certainly they must be a very successful and well respected (12-year-old) member of their community. Riiiiiight.

What about at the high end of the scale? A 5 year old watching Barney when it originated is now 15. Uh-huh. I'm sure they'd be a very successful and well respected member of their community too.

This "study" would have to wait at least another 10-15 years to have any kind of meaning. And even then, if such a study was done, who's to say those people found to be successful and well respected weren't going to be anyway?

Studies are bullsh*t. Especially this one (Assuming you didn't just make that up to push your point).

Barney sucks. It just warps kids into thinking the real world is all about songs and kisses and brightly-colored happy bullsh*t. And at such a young age, kids are highly susceptible to whatever's going on around them. After having their sensitive little minds destroyed by Barney and Friends, there's nothing that can possibly be done to prepare them for the way things really are, and that, you see, is truly unfortunate.

Barney doesn't help kids grow up to be successful, well respected members of their communities, it helps kids grow up to be weird, jobless losers who were prematurely braced for a reality that couldn't possibly exist. Poor little buggers...
