For awhile I used headphones very similar to these they were exactly the same but they could be collapsed. Unfortunatly the plug on the end ended up breaking (I think it was my fault, I had them plugged into the back of my computer and bent around at some nasty angles) I'm not an audiophile so I can't really compair the sound quality to anything else and tell you it was better or worse, but I can tell you that I was very happy with them. They're not nearly as heavy as they look, and are very comfortable. The outside noise cancellation was awesome, even with music playing softly I had to take them off to talk to people and that works both ways. I was able to listen to the radio on my discman (which is much louder than the cd player in the discman) at full volume and people who were 6 feet away couldn't make out what I was listing to.The only real downside is that they do look a bit goofy when you've got them on.

Here is another pair that is collapsible and they've got an in line volume control. If you were willing to drop the cash on the bose, $20 for these shouldn't be a problem.
